Chicago area cruise night

The Rolling Meadows cruise night has been moved to Palatine.

It will be located on Mendard's property at 1775 N. Rand Rd.

The shows will last from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday evenings from May 6 to Oct. 14.

With traffic, I'd get there just in time to turn around and come home.

Know of any in the city itself?

Most of the Cruise Night web sites are not updated yet...but this was one site for last year:
http://www.msutv.com/cruise.htm

Maybe you can find one closer to home...or take a day off work and come out to the new cruise night in Palatine.

Its about time something is near my house and I dont have to drive all day to get to it. Only about 5 Min.
How far North in the city are you? My parents live in Lincolnwood and it only takes about 45 min. to drive to there house from mine. Then again I don't try it during rush hour on a Friday.

I went there once a long time ago wasn't it at Menards years ago. Will have to try going there. Depending where you are in the city, Forest Park has a small one on Tuesday nights and Westchester has a decent size one on Mondays'

I'm about a mile from Wrigley. I've tried driving north on Friday in rush hour. I don't have that kind of patience!

Aces - it's 3 exits north and a mile west, maybe 5-6 miles, total!

I know exactly where it is. It's just past Idols.

I use to hang out in Palatine at Rand and Dundee at the old Video Arcade in
the strip mall that was torn down to build the Home Depot. All behind it was a
forest where we had couches set up around campfires in the woods.

It's all gone now. Now it's all shopping plaza's.

From what I gather, the owner of the vacant Dominick's went into foreclosure...and I do not think the bank that owns it now wanted the liability.

I just hope they don't have a bunch of new Mustangs, Vipers and Camaros show up at the new location. What would you rather see...a classic Olds like your own or a 2006 Mustang with chrome exhaust tips and big woofers?

There was an artical in the Daily Herold Paper this morning that said the village is going to monitor this thing to make sure it does'nt turn into a "Fast and Furious"car show. So it should stay as a classic car cruse nite.

Just be advised,

This is right next to one of the ghetto gang areas of Palatine.
Behind Idols on the North East section of Dundee and Rand Rd.

Kinda one of the reasons I'm not happy about bringing my car there.
it's still ALOT safer then Chicago, and it's not crazy.
Just something to be aware of what kind of area your car will be in.

You guys are up too early in the morning!

I guess if you have concerns about your car getting scratched, dinged or parts missing, you should not take your car anywhere.

People, no matter where they are, just do not care about YOUR car the way that YOU do.

I think young kids could be as destructive as a "gang banger". All it takes is a belt buckle on a kid, standing on their tippy-toes just trying to look inside the car, to scratch the paint on the door. Or, the person that parked next to you swings their door open and...oooops there it is! Or, "hey, that shifter **** is cool...I could use that".

Call your village and ask.

Most of Palatine is pretty nice. That's the main area I know of.
I can tell you most of the bad/crime riddled areas in most of the NW Suburbs.

Typically it's where all the clusters of low rent apartment complexes are.

That was a rhetorical question. I guess I judge people by the content of their character not the size of there wallet. And I do know people on both ends of the economic spectrum. Best for you to just stay in your safe neighborhood and let us poor dregs enjoy ourselves

I meant do they use canes or walkers instead of guns and knives, as I never thought of Palatine as a place with gangs, but I guess no place is immune - I do know they have some great soccer fields.

Nope, no longer immune especially with the huge influx of illegals we've been getting in the past decade +. Also lets not forget all the city projects that Daley tore down and relocated them all out to our suburbs.

Hoffman Estates use to be a pretty nice suburb too. Now it's got a real bad section 8 housing district that's filled with transplants from the city. Drug trafficking has increased several times over, and so has gang activity.

Palatine was once a really well to do area. Still is in many parts, but it's not immune to the growing gang issues around it's economy apartment complexes. Runaway Bay has always been a bad area too. That cluster of Apartments right off Rt 53 just south of Dundee exit on the West side.

Well if you want to go in the City ( I live in the Humbolt park area ) there are some good shows in the park during the summer months as well as a cruise night every Thursday in the parking lot of North ave and Cicero , there is a diverse bunch but everyone there is always friendly to me the couple times I stopped by, then again there is the the Saturday nights in Lombard ( nice cruise night but everyone looks at me like I am an" Illegal " still don't know how they can tell just by how I look ..???) no worries I feel safe where ever I go .
Also don't forget Fluky's on the North side here is a web site ....http://www.ccecorvair.com/cruisenights.htm

I've been to that show once last year with my Baldwin Motion themed 78z.
By the train station right ?? Wasn't bad. Stopped at Bally O'Doyle's for a good
bowl of beef stew and a pint.

Could have been the the "Mi Vida Loca" Tattoo ( My Crazy Life for non Spanglish speakers) I have across my back shoulders and the Goat tee I wear that freaked people out but on the west end of the strip there is also a Texas BBQ place if I remember I will be back this summer for a couple of outings to see how the Burbs are , hopefully I don't get pulled over and tazered by the Police ....

By The way Aces on your signature pics I like the stance of your ride and are those Rocket brand wheels you have on there ??

Westchester starts earlier in the spring than most and goes longer in fall than most.

Forest Park is west of circle avenue, right on Madison and in the parking lot next to Doc Ryans on the south side, never a lot of cars but it is close and is growing.
