Was looking through an old mag and saw this car. What's the story?

They were a dealership in Ohio that sponsored stock Olds drag race cars with Ron Garey a racer. There is a lot more to the story here....

the car ran a best of 12.60 on that day(68 Springnationals) and ran a 'letting off" 12.68 on the final run. Was running off a 12.70 record ("index" in todays jargon) and the .10 break-out rule was in effect which means that a 12.5999 would have been too fast and broke out. if you read recap of the eliminator you will see that each run prior to the final the speed was about 107mph - and was only about 98mph on the final. He actually covered Dianna as he hit 4th gear. Killed him on the tree and coasted to the win!

Very cool car in the heyday of factory stockers. So much more fun than the Pro Stocks of today. Booooring!
