Bought a Toro Today
Bought a 66 Toronado today from a very nice lady in Michigan. The car is Fabulous. It's a two owner gem. Everything works except the clock. Reverse lights, hideaways, radio, rolling speedo, the works! The lady was a pleasure to work with as well. My hat is off to her. She sold it to the right guy too. I plan on taking it to the next level. It deserves it. Got to admit, I'm very pleased and excited. 83,000 original miles.

WOW! What a sweet buy! Would probably have to "bit the bullet" if one showed up in that good a shape. Would be best if I just bought it and drove it home, THEN told her (Juju) about it. Two of us and 4 cars, already a bit crowded. LOL!

Check the front suspension components
These cars are heavy, so you want to make sure its all good. Same with the brakes. The drums aren’t the best on the planet, but they will stop the car. Other than that, these cars move well.

The brakes were serviced in 011. I plan on having the car checked over completely by my mechanic/fabricator/all around car genius. He services all my cars. From my DDs to the Hot Rods. The car tracks nice and straight and brakes the same way. It leaks trans fluid. It's either the dipstick or the pan. It leaks no oil though. It needs tires as the ones on the car are bias ply! A nice set of radials will improve the ride.
I agree though the car has to be gone through. It runs really smooth.

Mine is not as nice a condition as yours, but I drive it all over the place. Use it as a daily driver for weeks on end.
Heat doesn’t work, radio doesn’t work. But runs and stops well. As long as the weather holds, will just drive it.

Real nice car! Great color combo too! Are those hubcaps an option? Most came with the little dog bowl....there is one on eBay right now....my bid got buried a couple of days ago!

That's a fantastic car. There are so much to appreciate about these, from their styling to how they drive and how surprisingly well they handle given their vintage. You got quite a gem there. Now all you have to do is buff off that pin striping and you'll be 'representing'.

Drove it tonight again. Mr Tobin (my dog) likes the easy access. He goes everywhere with me. My sig video attests to that! Thanks for the compliments guys. I love these cars. I think I bought it right too. The car has the original spare tire. The trunk is untouched. It does need seat covers. The car has a small plaque that says, This car was built especially for Bill Holt." He was the original owner. The car was then sold to the lady's father who owned it until I bought it.

Dad had the exact car, same color in 68-71. I used to wax the chrome for him. His had the deluxe chrome wheels with the small center caps. Those capes you have are uncommon for 66.

I also like how the steel wheel underneath the wheel covers makes it look like every other turbine space is filled in.
Step 1. rag on some wood bleach or brasso (oxalic acid), and give that front bumper scuff a good rub. 2. hit it with some rubbing compound, and wipe clean. 3. use some 3m finesse it machine polish and a buffer pad. She'll be good as new.
Or, if you're just going to drive it, skip steps 1-3, get a little spit on her, and give it a good couple swipes with your jacket sleeve.

I'll have to drive it up to you. This thing is a tank! You'd love it! I'll take your advice on the bumper scuff that I didn't even see until you mentioned it! LOL! The tires may be older than you Jer.

I hear ya loud and clear on the storage issue, but...............if you really need some room I'll take the '68 back!!! Very cool Toro!!! I wonder if anyone like Legendary sells seat covers for a '66 Toronado-?- I seem to think not. That car COULD have leather seat covers from the factory and a good upholstery shop should be able to use the originals as patterns. Make sure the front boots are good----your mechanic buddy will know what I mean.

My girl at markscustomautointeriors.com has me covered. No pun intended. She saw the seats last night and said I was lucky everything was there and in good shape. She said most of the Toros she's seen were missing trim pieces etc. As far as I know, no one makes anything for these cars. The parts are not there. Luckily the car is complete. The 68 just got moved over and my Vette is in another garage. Got to have room to work!

I was thinking the same thing! HAHAHA!!! A message from the owner today;

When I had my '66 Toro I found the best source for parts, hands down, was this forum! I found every type of small and large part needed through the fine folks here. As for new parts, https://fusick.com/catalogdownload.htm seems to have a few items, but really, not very much. I was also a member of http://www.toronado.org but their forum's are pretty dead so there isn't much value there. They do however have a really nice magazine with some wonderful DIY projects like disc brake conversions and such.

Yes, 15s. You think the wheel covers are from 67? That may make me change them. I plan to repaint the black and clean them up real well and run with them. I looked for Toro rims on the internet and came up with squat.

15" wheels are from the 67, bigger wheels for the disc brakes that were offered in 67. I have those covers on my car but not the chrome wheels that you have, nice combination but not correct for the car if you are going for "correct". You might know that they are a three piece wheel cover so they are pretty easy to take apart and clean up. I did mine this summer but didn't paint out the black, I like the look of used.

67 was my first thought as well but I did some quick digging and that cover shows up in 66 too? I thought the only two wheel options for 66 were the painted wheel and the "deluxe" chrome wheel both with the dog dish center cap? Ill do more digging. Ill have to dig up the 66 sales brochure to verify.
