February 27, so it's coming up quickly, and it's a few miles from Wheaton in St. Charles this year.

It's at the Kane county fairgrounds and it's Feb 27th.
http://kanecountyfair.com/calendar.cfm

Randall Road and North Ave by Zylstra Harley Davidson.
I'm going to go as well. My mother lives across the street from it.

I wish I could drive my car and let people just buy whatever they want out of it. LOL
Engine & trans, new interior, etc. It would make it easier for me.

Is this a good size swap meet? is it worth the one way hour drive? I dont want to drive an hour to walk around 5 minutes and see everything.

thanks

I'd let someone else comment as I planned on spending an hour there and ended up being there for 4, but since I don't go to many I wouldn't know how it compares

Well I've never been to it myself.
So this is my 1st.

However, you have to consider the Chicago area and all midwest just got
the sh** kicked out of it with a massive blizzard. So parking might be
complicated, and vendors might not all show up. It's a toss up. Had
you asked earlier I was just by it, I could have seen if it was plowed.

No one will really know how the turnout will be until the day of unfortunately.
Kane has multiple very large indoor buildings for a nice swap.
It's bigger then DuPage IMO.

I went to a gun show in DuPage and it was a joke. I'll never go back.
Kane's Gun shows are waaaaaay better with 3-4x the selection.
I use this example only because of the space alotted was so much bigger in Kane.
So if they're upgrading by moving to Kane, I'd speculate it will be bigger.

Yes,your right Aceshigh, there are alot of variables.

It would be cool if the people from the board had some way of knowing one another so we could meet and introduce ourselves.

I usually go and spend 2+ hours there. I hope the new venue lets it get larger. It used to fill the hall it was in. See you 27FEB11.

I have also been to gun shows at both Dupage and Kane myself and your absolutely correct that they are bigger and better at Kane.

I made it to the BOP show at the Dupage fairgrounds last year and it was packed pretty tightly into the big main building. Lots of nice stuff for sale including some decent deals (found and original NOS brand new center for one of my ss1's). Lots to see and it took me at least 2 hours to make it through the place. I'm hoping that this new venue will be bigger and better than the old one.

I'm with you bigdave, I think the larger space will be a good for the show. Hopefully allow more vendors. Not much in advertising though. I go to "The Hotrod Shop" in Rockford, IL and as of 3PM today they still do not have an ad for the show. We are an hour away, but you'd think the speedshops would get an email, fax, mailer, anything to advetise the show.

I was just at the website, and clicked on the pictures tab. It looks to be a much better facility this year.

Kane gun show was today.
Didn't see much that interested me, just got more ammo from my reloader.
His .45 is cheaper then even Walmart and I have great groupings.

This week they said we're looking at 40's weather though.....
So not sure how it will be for the show but cross your fingers.

Yeah that's going to be more of a free for all event with all makes and models and toy car vendors.

I've been to one of the bike swap meets at the same fairgrounds.
Bought my last German helmet for my Harley there and my Busa helmet.

so I'd guess at the Skips meet you may find a few better deals but overall much less Olds stuff, correct. I tend to find some really cheap olds stuff at the other meets (or really stupid high prices because they think they know what they have)

Skips has a show/swap every month and is a mixed bag of vendors. The BOP show is once a year and there are way more Olds parts there.

Parts vendors are going to charge what they're going to charge regardless of where they sell.
Lake or Kane county wouldn't matter. Now if it was COOK county.....well then prices would probably
be higher because their booth fee's would be higher due to the outrageous taxes in CROOK county.
You just have a better chance of finding what you want at a dedicated show.

It's like me trying to find parts for my Harley @ Chicago Cycle (Closed now).....sure they have
every parts manufacturer , and mostly crotchrockets, but I'm better off going to a Harley Dealership.
BTW guys, if only you'd seen this place......the Motherload Costco of Motorcycle stores. Buddy was the finance MGR there.
This place was so huge it was like a toy store for adults walking into it. You just get A.D.H.D. walking in.

I don't think anyone could truly answer that brother. Crapshoot.
one man's junk is another man's treasure.....plus

No one knows how the turnout is going to be. I drive down to Indy for the
Indy Gun and Knife show though. You guys have THE BEST show in the area.

And it depends on what you are looking for, I had a great time last year and spent hours there, went to Lansing for the first time in my life, drove back and forth in a day and will do it again. I don't need much, matter of fact I don't need anything for my car but there are a few items I wold like to replace, upgrade or add so its fun just to look. I'd say it would be worth it - lots of cool stuff even from other makes.

exactly like steve says below, it all depends on what you are looking for. have been vending at this for several years. Oddly, in the midwest rust belt, I have been unable to sell any rust free sheetmetal, so I don't bring it any more. hoods, fenders, trunklid, doors, nothing has sold. I might bring a 70-72 convertible trunklid this year, we'll see how much room I have in the truck.

I'd wear my split sox jersey, but I don't want to get it dirty.

I'll probably be in a 2fer black T-shirt and thermal under it. My wife will be easier to spot.

I only saw a handful of tables with Olds parts.

I was in and out in <45 mins. So IMO it wasn't worth it.

Yep, better location, larger area but very few parts this year, mostly product guys, toy booths and service booths. I found a couple of items but not much at all - and the lights went off, no electricity. Didn't see Aces but I was moving quickly myself as well

All I can say is, I've NEVER seen a Super T10 4 speed transmission before.

But when I saw it in person, I thought it was so cute.....
I can't believe that little sh** survived behind any real car with power.
It looked like a toy to me compared to modern 6 speed T-56's that weigh 2x as much.
Not to mention TR6060's which are even beefier now.

I liked it. I met a few Olds guys (vendors) Bought a few small things. Oh and got a great deal on a Heathkit Boonie minibike from one of the Olds vendors.

I went to Skips today since I wasn't looking for Olds specific parts. I was disappointed in the vendor turn out, it was nothing like last years. Still managed to buy a few things though.

I drove 3 hours round trip for the swap meet so I walked around slow looking closely at things.Walked the rounds 2 times in 2 hours.

The parking lot is a goofy set up,and geez would it have killed them to throw a little salt around that parking lot, seeins how they were expecting alot of people.

Picked up some light lenses, a stone shield emblem and an Olds flag...white with red rocket.
Met Ron Memmer.

I looked around for you guys that hang out here at CO but no one was wearing their CO shirts or hats that I could see

Sorry to hear that.

This is where I was saying I couldn't tell someone it's worth it.
Now that I've seen it, I'll never go back to it. Others experience
may have enjoyed it more then I did though.

I see more on Ebay.

I got there about 11:00 and spent about an hour, venders were already packing up and leaving as I walked around. I guess I needed to get there earlier. I did get a nice under hood light for 10 bucks. and yah the parking lot was a mess like a mouse looking for a piece of cheese in a maze
