Well on one of the only non rainy/ snowy days I planned on getting the new battery in the Miata, not a big deal it's in the trunk and not very hard to get to. Just have to kneel on this one knee, un hook the battery from the brackets wires and such then pull it out. Some where between not hard to get to and then pull it out my knee gave a loud snap and froze up. Something in there gave it up. Strange because this is already a Prosthetic knee mostly Stainless and Teflon and I didn't know they would do that but they do, said the Doc. Looks like I'm up for a rebuild again and show season is just around the corner.

I can gimp around a little and just walking doesn't hurt much but get a little off center and:the knee gets stuck grinds and hurts like Hell. Getting old just sucks..... Tedd

 

Sorry to hear that your knee is giving you trouble. Hopefully the doc can relieve some of the pain and stiffness without surgery.

That must have been an ahhh $*#@%^!
Everything must have shifted. That would bugger it up I guess, hopefully they could rotated it back without surgery.
I hope your Dr gets you fixed up real soon to take care of the pain first.
Good thing we can be rebuilt in area's haha. Hope you have decent mobility to get around Ok until repair or replacement .

Sorry to hear of your knee problem... Hopefully it may be a simple fix and you will be good as new for the show season... You are right, aging sucks, but I am sure you will "Endeavor to Persevere"...

 

I've never heard of an artificial knee failing like that. Hopefully it is an easy fix.

 

Those trips down the double diamond runs should have told you something! Hurry up and get better pronto.

Oh Man! So sorry to hear about this Tedd! My brother in law had one of his fake knees rebuilt. They were able to replace the Teflon(?) pad and not mess with the metal parts of the prosthetic joint. The surgery wasn't as involved but I think his rehab was about the same length of time as the initial replacement.

 

So very sorry to hear of your knee problem, Tedd. I have a bone on bone left one with learning to walk again. Hope it is an easy fix without major surgery!

 

The right knee, It's going to be the replacement of the part that looks like the miscues if it was real. Seems there is a post/**** that helps the two ends of the femur to a line as the knee becomes straight so if the femur isn't damaged they will replace only the middle unit. Kinda like replacing a bearing shell. This should be easier operation unless the crank is damaged then it's same o same o operation and replace it all.

I've had three Doc's look at the X rays and that is what they come up with. To me it looks fine but what do I know? One guy only does repairs, hope he knows his stuff. I'll know more after the 20th, should get my operation date and time then..... Tedd

Tedd, for the repair can they do it with arthroscopy? Hopefully they don't have to put you under general anesthesia. That's never fun.

 

No it will be night night time. I've been through all this before (this will be number 6), no picnic but I'm good with it if I can just get back on my feet in a reasonable length of time and get out of Dodge for a few days, bad cabin fever and I'm tired of winter!...... Tedd

 

Got my operation date, the 20th of April. won't know if it will be the Teflon wafer or the whole Mary Ann. What ever it is it has to be done, can hardly go up stairs now, down stairs not a issue, strange..... Tedd
