Bill Campbell (Hurst)
Bill Campbell, co-founder of Hurst, passed away last week at 97.

He made a surprise visit at our Spring BOPC show and Hurst/ Olds day last year. The home he was in was nearby and brought residents over to see the cars. I was glad I got to meet him! Some pictures from the show last year, Bill is in the last couple pictures with one of our club members, and former Hurst engineer, Don Glover.

Interesting guy with a great life story. Getting a "Hurst" shifter was a big deal in the sixties. I've had some POS such as Foxcraft and "Spark-O-Matic, can you say, "mis-shift'. These were for a 3 speed. The Foxcraft was named Mystery shifter. We'd say it's a mystery if you found 2nd gear. The Hurst shifters were "state of the art" RIP Mr. Campbell

When I was stationed at NAS Willow Grove, I lived on West Street Road. Just down the road was the original Hurst factory. I tried to get a part time job there but no luck. Actually interviewed with Bill Campbell.
