A bad day

I was fired today because of this. Absolutely not my fault. Tried telling them that this happens sometimes but they didn't even want to hear it. I even offered up 8 different online articles with the exact same thing (with pics) but they insisted this couldn't possibly just happen on its own and that its my fault. Their loss! They lost their best employee today. (Not being cocky but I was the only one who has never called out, was always on time, never had any issues/problems at work or at customer locations, never caused any damage, always took the extra trips, etc etc) oh well. I wasn't making any $ there anyway.

Go to your union rep. if you got one. If your just the driver, the loader may not even be able to tell its about to fail. You probably had a weak trailer. They get old and break. Would have to be greatly overweight in the middle to fold like that if it was new.

move on..dont look back, and consider it a new start..dont waste your time defending yourself....dont hold a grudge..just move on..it may be the next step to the best part of your life..its how you view it..a positive thing or something negative that drags ya down..i would choose positive..

make it positive, and go do what ya want...life is too short..just too short..

I am sure that you are professional! Like others have said, move on there are lots of truck driving jobs out there and sounds like better pay too!

Good luck on finding a better company to work for!

Sorry to hear but as was mentioned, there are many companies that need good drivers. How could a broken trailer be your fault if you did not load it? Looks like poor maintenance/inspection to me. Anyway good luck on finding suitable employment. Keep a positive attitude and you will come out ahead. Good luck!

Shouldn't you be able to file for unemployment ? I can't see how they could prove that was your fault.

Sorry for your situation... But you should have no problem finding a new drivers position as they are in high demand throughout the entire country... In this area sign up bonuses are being offered starting at $5K with pays ranging from $65K to $75K...

I'd suggest that when you interview you tell them exactly what happened with this job and show them that picture - the guy who laughs and says "What a load of BS, that's got nothing to do with you!" will be your best bet for a boss.

I agree with Eric.. keep a picture when visiting others companies for future employment, that will help you. Everyone has a story when in the interviewing process. I have heard many!
Like others have mentioned driving jobs are in high demand at the moment, perhaps you could consider brokering with your own truck. Lots of business start up money flying around, at least on this side of the pond, that may be something to consider and go after if available down in the states.
I have an employee that was with my DAD for 18 years, stayed and has been working for me for the past 10 years. Awesome man and employee, his age is holding him back from producing, which is unfortunate but we will all get ther!!
He just got approved for a business loan to start up a small machine shop with 2 CNC machines he's elderly and really needed to go on his own and hire a couple young guys to help him run his machines.
I helped him get started and he stayed with me until his unit was up and running, I owed him that for the many years of service he provided my DAD and me.
So ther is money to get going if you have the ambition, just need a little help getting going.
I wish you all the best in your future endeavours, you have to go after it. You will get ther our Oldsmobile friend!!
Cheers
Eric

Thanks for the support guys! I truly appreciate it. I know that it wasn't my fault at all and don't question that at all. This is what happens when a 30 yr old veteran that was a dispatcher for JB Hunt bamboozles the owner who lives in California into thinking he knows everything about the trucking business when in fact he knows nothing at all. Hes going to be so far behind where he could've been when he finally wakes up and realizes who he put in control of his business.
So many jobs. I could've had a job within an hour. I'm not going to pursue anything, just move on as others have suggested. I'll be a little more picky about my next employer.

Good to hear you not letting it bother you, things happen for a reason sometimes in life. A new door will open when you least expect it.
Could be a warehouse owner/expediter here on Classic Olds in your area that need a professional driver, you just never know.
All the best
Eric
