Anyone selling a truck in Vermont?
Anyone selling a truck in Vermont?
Hi everyone.
I'm looking at buying a car in Vermont. The best way I've figured to get it back to Georgia is to buy a truck along with it and rent a Uhaul trailer and drive home. My thinking is I could spend 1700 on renting a box van(it's a small car) but then at the end of the trip I have to give the truck back. If I owned the truck I could sell it, keep it and use it, etc. and get a little of my money back. It's about a 16 hour trip and I don't want to make it twice(up and back in my own truck). Having it shipped is not an option.
This sounds odd I know, but it makes sense to me. Anyone? Not looking to spend more than around 1500 to 2000. It doesn't have to look terrific, just run okay.

Search craigslist and see what you can get for the money. V8 that has ok tires, brakes, frame, alternator, battery, transmission, and engine is going to be more than $2k I bet. But I could be surprised. Post pics if you find one.
and BOOM---$2100 https://vermont.craigslist.org/cto/5477870266.html
Thanks you guys. I realize relying on a strange car to get me 1000 miles isn't the brightest idea, but I've also rented Uhauls that didn't get me out of town. My thought is I could spend 1700 on a truck I have to give back, or about the same amount on a truck I could keep. I also thought that checking here I might have a little more peace of mind. I've got a little more time to overthink this.
Just keep in mind that "normal" rust in Vermont may be "junk it" rust in Georgia, and affect resale value.
As far as your search, look in Uncle Henry's.

Ever heard of a DAF? Small Dutch car from the 50s and 60s. I'm buying it from a guy in Mt. Tabor. The car doesn't run, of course, which makes things a little more challenging.
Take the bus Mike? I might as well drive my own self up there. The object is to avoid the long round trip. I can fly up there in less than three hours. I get your point, though.
