Anyone remember Schaper Stompers?
How many of you remember Schaper Stompers from the 80s? I dug out my old collection for my girls to play with today. I think these were the number one toy in the 80s for boys. Any electronics knowledge I have started right here with these things.
And not Stomper collection is complete without a school box full of parts....

I only had one, but it was great! It was a black Mack semi trailer truck with blue stripes. I built a truck pull sled with my "Erector" set that actually functioned. My dad used to borrow my stomper to take to work to compete with his co-workers.:roll eyes: Me thinks that Christmas gift had an agenda!! It was great, and I must admit that I have looked at Rebay within the last 6 mos feeling sorta nostalgic…I still have my Tyco 'Electric Trucking", how nerdy is that!!

LOL, we had competitions on who could go up the slide the farthest on recess. I figured out that if i put duct tape on the tires and heated them up with a hair drier it would make the tires real sticky. I would win every time after that.

Haha - I remember them well and I had a couple. I actually ran across one of them recently but do not remember where.... I thought they were the coolest thing!
Mine had small hard-foam cogged tires - the earlier style I think from the very early 80s.

I remember Mcdonalds used to hand them out in the happy meals. I probably still have a few if my kid brothers didn't break em'. I'll have to dig through the basement at my dad's.
I used to have a whole clothes hamper full of cars&trucks. Mostly matchbox, but I do remember a few stompers ending up in the bunch.

My old Stompers had changeable tires in both rubber and foam. Had a Silverado and big rig. Those things went everywhere with me, even the bathtub. One day I pulled the wheel and tire off an old Stomper and glued it on the bed of the pick-up, leaning against the roll bar. Looked cool and it was my first customizing job ever.

I had taken mine apart many times, little square motor with an sprocket on each side that rode on a worm gear that drove both axles, originally ran with a single AA battery. hook up a 9 volt and watch that thing fly I want another one...
I had a jeep that would run on water, it needed batteries but in order to move you had to put water in it??????

I got all of mine out last winter, for my boys to play with and look at,then stored them back away.I still have a lot of them, and the ones I stored away are all mint.I have the Stompers and Stompers2.Single speed and 2-spd,and some with the front winches.I always tried to get the odd ones,or the ones you didn't see a lot of at the stores. Was that a foreshadow of my future?
