Anybody going golfing?

The golf course opens tomorrow I have a Monday tee time. Only problem is I have to walk. No carts. With COPD and half a lung cut out it might just kill me. I'd rather go down swinging on the course than in a hospital with a pipe down my throat. .

If the lack of a golf cart is a problem just play 9 holes or spend some time on the driving range. Have fun!

9 holes is all I am going to attempt. We have some pretty big hills here.

Why not? Does the course give a reason? I've seen courses where they make each player in the foursome take their own cart. Of course, that'll use up carts quickly, but I would think that courses would want to be able to rent carts if at all possible because it's one of their biggest money-makers.

They dont want multiple people in one cart, and since previous attempts showed people wouldnt follow distancing rules, they banned cart rentals. It only takes one or two groups of fools to ruin it for everybody else.

I don't really understand this, either. Most social distancing orders prohibit groups of more than five. Only two people ride in a gas cart. How is that any different than two people walking side by side carrying clubs or pulling a hand cart? Or two people just taking a walk down the street? In all cases the grouping is less than five, and even an entire foursome is less than five. And the whole thing is OUTDOORS!

Because they have an opportunity to control you. It's not about your health.

Just talked to someone at the golf course. He said 1 cart per twosome, but only one person permitted to ride at a time. He said to take turns riding. I forgot to ask if the guy walking had to carry his clubs or if the clubs could stay on the cart. Sounds stupid to me. If we take turns driving the cart I still have to sit in the seat and handle the steering wheel that my disease infected opponent just touched. This stuff has gotten out of hand.

I really don't want to get the virus. Three doctors told me I won't live if I get it. One said if I get the virus I should buy some butter. Why? He said if you get it your *** is toast, you WILL die. I still think things have gone overboard.

If they are so worried about people getting the virus, why are they letting criminals out of jail? They let 130,000 criminals out of the joint in Washington, 50 of them were murderers.

For the same reason they use an alcohol cotton swab before they give them a lethal injection. They don't want them to get an infection.

Today, April 30, the governor of New Mexico eased some restrictions, including allowing golf courses to reopen (but not their restaurants nor pro-shops) starting tomorrow. No mention is made about riding in carts versus walking or any restrictions like that. Perhaps that's being left up to the courses themselves, or maybe the newspaper article just didn't bother to go into that level of detail. But I'm still glad to see this. "Non-essential" businesses, too, can reopen with curbside service (you know how much fun it is to take your bride-to-be shopping for a wedding ring at the local jeweler by standing on the curb and asking the owner to bring rings out one at a time.) Restaurants still closed, though, until the middle of the month,

Not that this is of that great an interest elsewhere in the country, but it has been pointed out to us New Mexicans that the three states surrounding New Mexico (Arizona, Colorado, and now Texas) HAVE lifted restrictions to the point that all stores and restaurants can reopen with appropriate social distancing and capacity limits while New Mexico is an island in the middle that doesn't allow this. But this will put pressure on the governor to join the other three states as border-area residents (like myself) can just go across any of the three borders and shop and go to restaurants almost like the good-old-days, and businesses in New Mexico will start justifiably howling. The state doesn't exist in a vacuum.

My club just went from walking only to one person one cart. You have to load and unload your own clubs and they spray disinfectant on every car after the golfer finishes
There's no congregating in the parking lots, and the driving range stations are further apart, BUT, they only allow 4 cars out, 4 carts on the range and the when the foursome tees off they are followed by another foursome on the range

Golf courses here in Arizona have been open - as in never closed - with restrictions on the number of players (not really any change from what folks have been doing along) and and the number of people per cart.

Here's a map from Golfweek Magazine showing which states have reopened their golf courses as of May 1. It's pretty much all of them. Only Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont are keeping their courses closed (for reasons unknown). Alaska is in gray because their courses are closed because of seasonal conditions (it's still winter up there!). New Jersey and Washington are in gray because courses in NJ will reopen May 2 while courses in WA will reopen May 5.

The website doesn't say what the "restrictions" are for California courses other than to note that course openings there are being handled more on a county-by-county basis rather than through a single, state-wide policy.
