The blue cord indicates he's infantry. The brown round is only worn by drill sergeants.

There is nothing more appropriate than the flag of the United States of America, and a serviceman saluting it. At any time.

Now thats a flag!
Pride...we need to bring it back. I put my time in with uncle sam and would do it again.
Our grand parents and distant ancestors had the pride to allow the freedom to choose Oldsmobile's...not because because they are easy to build, but because they are hard.
Ooh-rah!

I come from a line of Air Force people. I never served because in 1974 when I turned 18 Vietnam was still roaring. I didn't want any part of fighting a war I didn't believe in and that had become obvious the Washington politicians' intention was not allowing it to be won, but to keep defense contractors running wide open. General Eisenhower had warned us of it in the 1950s, and if Westmoreland had been allowed to do what a commanding general does, we'd have finished the job and saved face.

My Ruritan Club is hosting a Veterans' soup supper on the 12th as part of our regular monthly meeting. In past, oldest Vets we've fed were Korean Conflict (who are close to 90 now) and we're getting some 20-something Vets now too.
Interesting post Rocketraider. As a Canadian born in the mid 70's, I was pretty far removed from that conflict but it worked it's way into our sphere through movies and documentaries pretty quickly over time and I became pretty fascinated with it. It seems to me, as a total outsider looking in, that many people in recent times have forgotten just how much of an effect that conflict had on your country.
