I truly will miss Allan if he stays away, but hope he does if he is happy.
X 1000! Allan was a great guy on CO and is a great guy away from it.

X also. I think the replies with the great comments about Allen say it all. Allen was very dedicated to this forum. His posts were both knowledgeable and helpful. He was level headed and generous with his time. I wish him all the best. Let's hope Joe P. stays around for a couple of decades more. Ken

I have mixed feelings on Allen's absence, he is obviously a great source of good information with a great attitude. However, a fella can dedicate only so much time to so many interests. When I look at Allen's magnitude of posts, I think "Where does this guy have the time to dedicate to his online life?" My very lovely and super smok'n wife asks me what is so interesting when I am cruising this sight for extended periods.... And yet my posts are representative of a newbie... Give the guy a break, maybe he is taking a long well deserved vacation from the plugged in world. When he is ready, I'm sure Allen will grace us with his friendly informative personality again.. Patience y'all.....

Hat size. There are a lot of swollen heads and egos lately.

Welcome back Allen! Your presence was greatly missed here. I hope you can find some balance to your contributions to CO that doesn't require your total absence.

It's a little bit eerie how people sound like Allan's passed away or something. He's still alive and kicking, people, and thanks for that. :P

Thank you to all. I have to admit this is a lot overwhelming and I must say that I don't see myself as anyone special. I disabled my links on purpose as I didn't want to offend anyone by not answering any PM's as I was dealing with a very personal issue. In hindsight I recognize that CO wasn't the problem, it was my addiction to the keyboard that was. I'm glad to see that the Olds community continues to work together, as it should.

That's the plan. Thankyou. Moderation. I think you and Jaunty alluded to that in the earlier posts and I now really do appreciate the wisdom of those statements.

That made me chuckle, and I find a good laugh each day is healthy!

You're right, when I first saw the thread title (another member sent it to me via email a while ago) I did feel a cold shiver at the title, but at the time I was still working on resolutions that were more important. I didn't bother to log in and read it but like I said it gave me a shiver. I just happened to see the thread in the scroll down list today and paused to read it. Holy socks, I'm sorry it caused concern and/or worry. Just an FYI, I don't have any plans with the grim reaper in my near future. In all honesty I don't think Eric (oldcutlass) really intended it that way. I really needed the 'sabbatical' though and will try hard to not fall into old habits - they're sometimes hard to break. FWIW I do give myself a reality check now every morning about what's really important in life.

I noticed initially you were not posting and became concerned, so I asked. It kind of took on a "It's a Wonderful Life" moment, huh. I don't do a reality check every morning, however I perform an inventory.

Allan R: I didn't realize that you were gone for two months.

I'm glad you are back. I enjoy your humour and technical insight.
