I'm about to have a top put on my 75 Delta 88.I found a factory manual on Ebay and after reading it I decided the $1100. for top/glass/top rubber and new frame bushings install wasn't that bad. I did have to get my own rubber and bushings. You didn't say what kind of car you have.Mine is an old scissor top and thats an intirely different animal.
Welcome and GOOD LUCK!!

I am thinking about trying it ? I spent less than 300 for my top from OPGI
and since my current top is trashed I almost can't lose .
I need to study 1st. I figure there is some "how to" threads on some sites
to check out . Maybe some Chevelle sites or ? I'll post what I find .
I am in no hurry !

I'm planning it on a 68 cutlass. I've purchased a quality top, pads, well, new weatherstrip, and tack strip. My frame, cylinders, drip rail and rear tack pads are in good condition. I planned on installing it myself then chickened out. We have limited installers that are familiar with tops in this area (just east of new haven, ct) and they want a $1000 for the install. Even after I supply all the parts! For me, that's a lot of motiviation to try it myself. Worst case scenario, I totally screw up the top during my learning process and need to buy another. In such a situation, I'd still come out ahead. I'd break even after I trashed three tops and got the fourth to work.
I've found several how to articles on line but none really explain things in detail.
Any tips you guys have are appreciated.

My top was installed for about 600 or so and the previous owner supplied the top, pads, and other parts. It came out nicely, but the fit around the right rear window could have been tighter.
Of course, they did figure in a stretch factor...

For a grand, I might have tried it myself, but lots of time, patience, and garage space will be needed. I seem to have neither of these...

I bought my top (and pads and liner) from OPG. A shop in St. Louis quoted me $800 for the labor to install it. Seems a little high...maybe not. I would not attempt it myself.
