I removed the factory air in my '69 Cutlass Supreme, I need a blank for the firewall but can't seem to find a supplier, any suggestions would be great!

What do you mean by a "blank"? You can get a complete uncut repro firewall, a flat plastic panel that blanks off the HVAC holes, or a special HVAC box that allows you to keep the heat function when you delete the A/C. Which one are you looking for?

 

Here is what I did for the time being. I would like to get a complete new "uncut" firewall, but I just don't have the funds right now.

My car was an original heat only car, but as you can see, the guy before me (the hack) put in the factory A/C parts and cut an even bigger hole in the firewall. The parts didn't quiet line-up right, and I don't think it would have worked right anyway so I decided to scrap it all.

If I would have decided to go with all the "factory" parts, it would have cost me much more money then an aftermarket unit. So I purchased a Vintage Air unit.

What I did was take a piece of cardboard and used it as a template. After I got the fit I wanted, I transfered it over to a piece of sheet metal. I was going to go further past the voltage regulator, but I didn't have enough material. I saved the template so I might redo it in the future and maybe use a thicker material and weld it on.

 

Thanks for the other links, I checked them out and it looks reasonable for sure. With your fix on the pics. you dont have heat any more though correct?

 

BTW, nice job on the motor and compartment, just about to do mine, Hedman's on order, then total front end, and then the bling.

 

Thank you. I have a 455 being rebuilt right now (not numbers matching but the correct motor for this car)so the 350 will be replaced.

You are correct, I do not have any heat at the moment but the Vintage Air unit comes with heat as well as A/C. After I install it, the only thing you will see is the compressor and some hoses. The firewall will look the same.

 

Just about to do it, I'm just curious dfire. if you had to remove the dash to finish any of it off? Also, did you just plug off the port on the water pump, and what about the water hose going to the intake, what did you do there?

 

I did not have to do anything to the dash.
The heater hoses, I just ran one from the water pump to the back of the manifold, and the other I removed.
I don't know if I'll do it before I install the Vintage Air unit, but I was going to cap off the water pump and manifold fittings and remove the hose all together.
I think you can see this hose in the last pic on the left side of the motor.
