72 cutlass S springs
72 cutlass S springs
ok....so I'm moving along with my front suspension rebuild.... new question....I got the springs in, but according to factory manual, end of spring in lower control arm needs to be partially covering drain hole.....mine are not. Does this matter on replacement springs? BTW...they are duralast ..(made in USA)

Before you torque the spindle nuts there should be enough slack that you can rotate the springs to move the tail of the spring into the right position.
They are NOT covering at all....not real sure where they are! I got them in, and was just happy with that being a first timer. I buttoned it all up a couple weeks ago....but havent driven yet due to weather. I have an appointment to get aligned by a good shop in a week......not sure if they could help me out on that or not....hate to bust the ball joints back off.......( I did this before I had read that they needed to cover the hole partially) duh. I had asked about which side they should go on, as I HAD read the factory ones had a specific side, but was told on here that that did not pertain to replacements........I guess I was just hoping....lol
You should be ok as long as the lower part of the coil is fully in the recessed section of the lower control arm. That's the only 'orientation' you need for front springs. The upper will sit flat against the frame pocket no matter which way the lowers are installed. What's really important is that the lower coil is not elevated (offset) on the LCA. If you are fully seated you should be golden.
