I have a 1967 El Camino with no title. From what I hear the El Camino has a sturdier frame than what came in my 1964 Cutlass.

The El Camino has manual steering which I like. I could also build the frame while keeping my Cutlass drivable.

Would this be be a worthwhile swap? Any difference in the frames I should know of? I would part out the rest of the El Camino.

 

Check the wheelbase--may be 119" vs. 115" for the Cutlass. Your Cutlass has a top and bottom tank radiator and the 67 is probably cross flow. The stronger frame results from it using the convertible type boxing.

 

If you want manual steering, that simply swaps. The boxed convertible frame was an option on the 64-67 hardtops under RPO F35, but as Joe points out, the ElCo wheelbase is different.

 

The F-85/El Camino in 64 are both 115". My 64 442 Conv. had the El Camino frame with GM part # under it. There is/was a thread about this and Keener was the OP.
