Clutch Rod Block Off Plate

Guys:
I converted my 66 Cutlass to an automatic transmission and was wondering about blocking off the opening in the firewall where the clutch rod came thru, does anyone know of a part specifically for this or do I just make one myself?
Thanks, Ron

It's part of the lower steering column mounting plate. The LH part of the plate bolts on and there are two designs, one with the hole and one without. Since everyone else is converting TO a manual trans, there are repros of the one with the hole. I would imagine there are a lot of the AT plates around from these conversions.

OK, apparently Motor City Musclecars (the sister company to Inline Tube) sells the AT plates for the 64-67 cars on ebay.

FWIW, the 1966 setup used a rubber sleeve around the column, and a one-piece firewall plate with or without the clutch rod hole.

Ron, I may have a used one. My experience is that I've ended up cutting the rubber seal to get the plate off. I've not glued one back together but figured that's what would need to be done. John

I have one from a '67 but according to you guys the '66 is a one piece. ILT must think otherwise (unless T400 is different and used the 2 piece like I have from a '67).

Mines a steal compared to the repro piece and includes replated original attaching bolts to boot!

TH400 wasn't offered on the 66 A-bodies
