Tailpipe hangers for 2.5 inch exhaust 1970 CS Vert

I picked up a pair of tailpipe hangers from Fusick for my 70 Supreme Vert, but realized they are for 2 inch exhaust, mine are 2 1/2 pipes.
Has anyone found a source for 2 1/2 inch tailpipe hangers, or just have something fabricated at ye old muffler shop?

I'll check...I may have some (several) in a box. I replaced the worn-out hangers on my '71 CS convertible. I can't recall size - I'll have a look.

I have some Nickson 2.25" clamps & some HD hangars.

Nickson sells 2.50" HD Exhaust Clamps >>>http://www.nickson.com/newcatalogs/P1-12%20Clamps.pdf
I used a generic HD hangar when I replaced the clamps w/ Nickson clamps.

You can most likely find both the Nickson 2.5" clamps and HD Hangars at your local suspect parts stores.

The 1970 Cutlass tailpipe hangers look like this. Nothing prevents you from using it on a 2.5" pipe. Just get the correct size clamp. Yeah, the radius of the curved portion that fits over the pipe will be wrong. You can flatten it a little with a bench vise.

I think a pic or 2 will clarify my issue. The clamp is 2 1/2 inch and fits pretty snug around the muffler flange. The hanger will only accommodate up to a 2 1/8 clamp. Guess I could round out the holes on each side some, hoping to keep it centered, or just fabricate something different.

That's the muffler hanger, not the tailpipe hanger. I solve this problem with a die grinder or rattail file to elongate the holes until the clamp fits. Been doing it that way for 50 years now.

Thanks for the reply

Joe.
OK, I,ll give it a shot. It looks like that left side hole is going to be blown out in order to keep the clamp centered on the pipe and hanger.

You can grind that notch also. Note that the other part of the clamp likely sticks down further than that flange on the bracket anyway.
