suspension rebuild

Hello All,
I ordered a bushing kit for a front suspension rebuild on my 72 cutlass.I'm going to attack it next weekend.
Does anyone have any helpful hints or tips they are willing to share???
I almost ordered the wrong one because I didnt know the lower control had circular and oval bushings, but i got it right in the end.

Have a buddy there to help you and make sure you wear eye protection. Also be careful when you decompress the springs. I did my suspension years ago and it wasn't too hard.

Did you get it done? Share your experience. I just took my front end apart. It took all day, but I was not on it constantly. Going back together when I get the new bushing on the arms, and the rotors get changed out.

This is very true! You are going to need a hydraulic press when you get the arms off. I bought one from Harbor Freight while it was on sale, you will also need some shimming material to place on the arm while you are pressing the old bushings out. Make sure not to bend the arm. You can spray the bushings with WD-40 prior to pushing them out which may help lube them a little. Don't try to get in a hurry, it is a long process and make sure to stand to the side while pressing them to avoid getting hit with something. When I did mine I thought about taking them to a machine shop to press the bushings out/in but they wanted 20 bucks a bushing. Too steep for my blood which is why I bought the press for less than what it would have cost to have the machine shop to do the work.

You might also want to put ball joints on when you have the control arms apart;.
