Structural/frame,body integrity

Perhaps this is right forum to ask....
I have a '58 olds '88' HARDTOP, long story short.. a tree landed on it and crushed the top, and I was think of cutting the top off and making it a 'open top' car.Which I think would be really cool and all, but if I do cut the top, will I need to add extra support at frame and body? and if I do need to add support, any suggestions on how/where to add...

I believe cutting the top off of a hardtop would cause the body to warp and bend. You might want to add some rigidity to the doors. It would be a cool project though. Too bad you could only drive it during fair weather.

Well, I do have the other '58 or other vehicles to drive in bad weather.
I think the dog would love it.
