Steering column bearings 68 442

I have the steering column out of the car as I am doings lots of things. My car as 103000 miles on it and I was thinking of replacing the lower bearing of the steering column while is out of the car. It's a 4 speed without tilt. Frankly I don't know if is good, bad or ugly but if I do replace it will I be able to replace the upper steering column bearing at a later time without having to pull the entire steering column out again? If not I may wait and do them together. I appreciate any advise on this.
