Spring collapse

I was looking at my new 70 442 and saw the I right rear coil spring has 2 or 3 coils Collapsed on each other at the bottom of the spring. The left does not have any collapsed like that. I'm thinking a break somewhere on the backside. This may also be contributing to my shift linkage being jammed up against the top of the tranny tunnel.
Anything else I should check before changing the springs out?

You might check your rear control arms and bushings.

Fixed It

Well looks like I fixed it. Replaced the rear springs with +1 springs from Eaton, put new rear shocks on and no hitting anymore.

Sounds like somewhere along the line the old right spring was installed upside down
