Question Plastic Wheel Well Removal

I have a '73 Delta 88 and i want to remove the plastic wheel wells in the front. Is there an easy way to do this? Perhaps by taking off the wheel and taking it out through the fender opening? I recently installed a rebuilt and detailed engine, and the wheel wells are looking bad. I want to replace or repaint these plastic wells, but dont want to risk painting them while they are in the car. I would like to remove them first. Any ideas. I would rather not have to remove the front fenders. I looked into pulling them up out of the engine compartment, but it looks like there is too much stuff in the way.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Give your idea a try. If anything, you may have to loosen any bolts that hold the bottom of the fender to the cowl side/underside and pull the bottom of the fender away from the body some (NOTE: Keep track of any shims that come out of there and note how many are with each bolt).

I'm familiar with A bodies (Cutlass, Skylark, etc) and it's do-able on those using the method you suggest...give it a shot.
