Hello all, I have a 1970 Olds 98 convertible that needs a new frame due to rust. Can anyone tell me if a hard top frame will work?

 

The convertible frame is a hardtop frame with significant additional reinforcement to compensate for cutting off the roof. Convertible frames can be difficult to find. If the rust on yours is in the part that is common to the hardtop frame, it is possible to cut out the reinforcements from your old frame and weld them to a good hardtop frame. Obviously this is a lot of work and requires a competent welder and attention to frame alignment. Unfortunately sometimes it is the only option.
