Okay, it's spring time!
I am interested in getting some off-the-shelf rear springs for my 72 Cutlass to replace the old originals.
I am upgrading to the stock firm-ride setup.
The current Gabrielle Hijacker shocks will be replace with Bilsteins.
The boxed control arms and sway bar will be added.
Ride height needs to remain at factory specs.

I have heard some positive comments on Moog.
I noticed many here use the Moog CC501 coils, which are variable rate.
The alternate is the Moog 5413 heavy duty constant rate.
--If any of you used these, please comment on them!
Is variable rate a good advantage? Is the HD ones too firm?

I notice Rockauto also has AC Delco springs also. I am assuming these are newly made, but are they really built to the same specs as the originals?

They are a bit costly, also.
--Anyone used them??

I am aware of Fusick's custom made springs, but not sure if i want to shell out the high price when Moogs might work well also.

Richard, are you using Eibachs on the rear??

 

I have the Moog HD on the rear purchased from Rock. Stock ride height and not to firm.

 

You might also look at Kanter. They probably have springs for your car. Moog is a top quality manufacturer. As I recall, I used Moog ball joints on my 1964 98 many years ago.
