my first rust repair not to bad

The rear window sill was brittle and I had no problem taking it out...I actually had to cut the lip off and replace it with metal...It took me about 8 times before i got the factory form back...I actually used naval jelly to dissolve as much rust as i good which actually did a good job..I thin grinded the helll out of it...I then used eastwood rust convertor and coated everything and made sure it was smooth, now I am just waiting for a new vinly top...Pretty good for my first repair job take alook at the pic...There was still some fuzzies left from the old top but that will be covered up by the new top...Right under the glass the paint is wrinkled a bit,,This is part of the rubber seal i painted to blend it in..After the new top is on its goin look like nice...The car is dusty so there is some dust in the pic that just needs a good washin..It was leaking water so bad it start to rust all up under the roof of the trunk....I took a bead blaster and removed everything i seen...The grinded it more,,,Coated all the metal with eastwood rust converter and then sealed it..Came out real nice...check pics

What exactly did you use in the trunk and what method of application did you use, it looks really nice.

Well first I sanded all of the rust on the floor...Mostly all of it came up...Then I used naval jelly to disolve as much more as i could...Naval Jelly is awesome when it comes to disolving rust...It pretty much left me with a good clean floor...I then cleaned it with a degreaser...And then coated in with eastwoods rust convertor ( 2 coats) And then rolled a rust-oleum truck bed spray on the entire surface of all the metal in the trunk. It came out pretty good..I just need to buy some more coating and give it one more coat..I missed a few spots to i seen when i took pics

i took my car to about 4 bodyshops and they all said 1500-2000,,,,,I was like wtf,,So I went and bought a case of beer and started the project myself,,,,i took my little mig welder and some sheet metal and grinder,,,,I pulled the window because the bead seal needed replaced anyway and i didnt want to hit the window with my grinder,,,I cut the weak rusted metal out..The bad parts were right under the corner window on both sides,,,I then took my 7 inch and 4 inch grinder and went to town grinding the surface rust from the remaining metal,,,,,I then let naval jelly soak in the metal and dissolve any more rust,,This stuff work realy good...I repeated that step several times using alot of the jelly....I grinded it some more...Forming the lip to look like factory is where it got hard...But it wasnt bad...I then coated it down with eastwoods rustconverter....And then coated it with por-15,,,,,Then painted it......I had about 20 hours of labor in it and only about 100.00 in supplies,,that damn rust convertor and por-15 is alot of $$$$$$$$$,,,,It should last longer then me here on earth....I also drilled 3 small holes in the channel and some small drain hose to drain off any water that comes into the channel instead of it just sitting there which is what caused the problem in the first place,,,,,good luck and let me know if you need some help..

Speaking of rust...anyone have a good recommendation for getting rust off of chrome bumpers? My Toro has some light rust on it...well the bumper part anyhow...I know in the past I bought some product that removed it. Can't remember what it was called though.

turtle wax chrome polish and rust remover works good if it isnt real bad,,,,Change polishing cloth frequent or u will scratch the heck out of the bumper...If the rust is pitted end there is nothing u can do...

Thank you for the suggestion. I used some polish on it, but I don't think it had rust remover in it. The rust isn't horrible but I know there are pin holes on parts of it...so I'll try to get it as best as I can.
