Front springs/ rear springs

Any advise on spring compressors for 71-2 cutlass front and rear springs. I tried Local auto parts rental but it would not fit into bottom a- frame hole. Rear spring compressor is needed too. Thanks in advance.

You don't need a spring compressor for the rears and for the fronts it is a simple tool. Here is a link to one Summit sells and it can be bought at most parts stores.

Hope this helps

Rears don't need compressors?

I have a bare frame so it would be nice to not worry about disassembling the rear suspension. Thanks for the lead on the front.

Interesting, Ive never heard of needing a compressor for the rear springs? I've replaced a few and just disconnect shocks and drop rear.

All you have to do is unbolt the shocks and pull the rear axle down as far as it will go. Since all you have is a bare frame, you can't have torqued the control arm bolts yet, as that would be incorrect without the weight of the car on the suspension.

Thanks for the help everyone. Rear end is out and ordering summit tool for front tonight. I'll have to make a note on the torque after weight of car info. Don't want to forget that.
