Frame crack??

today while working under my car (71 CS) i noticed this spot on my frame (driver side frame horn)

For me, this looks like a welded frame crack.

Shame on me, i had the car completely apart last winter to sandblast and paint the frame, but i haven't recogniced this spot.

What do you guys think about this?

Is this from the factory or really a repaired crack?

do i have to be afraid? I mean, i drive the the car since 5 years, and the pre-owner for about 3 years and none of us welded this. I think this was done somewhen back in the days in the US and it doesnt looks like the crack is opening again.

Greetings from Austria

The odd thing is, when i tried to "feel" the welding seem on the inside of the frame with a finger through the big hole right next to the "crack", i feel NOTHING!

maybe its just a piece of welding wire/spatter from the factory welders

Yeah, now that i can't feel a welding seem/crack on the inside of the frame i'm quite sure its just a welding spatter.

I think im gonna sleep much better now .

I was just reading so much about frame cracks on A Bodies, i think i was getting a bit paranoid

Just because i DON'T want to frame off again 1 year later, even in Europe its not easy to find a good frame.
