found my rear crossmember is broke

Well I been under the culass today and found my rear crossmember is rotted and broke on drivers side and cracking on passenger side. Does anyone make a fix for these or is it a fab youself and weld it back?

What year? A picture would be most helpful. If one part is rotted, others may be also.

You mean the frame piece ahead of the rear bumper?

Or some other thing?

Check the frame rails where they rise up and over the rear wheels - check top, bottom, and sides.

Are you talking about the transmission crossmember? Those should be easy to find a replacement for.

Your location would be very helpful.

no it is the crossmember that the rear upper control arms bolt to right where the top of the coil spring pads rest. And upper shock mounts are located.

That is a bad thing.

Do check your frame rails where they rise and go over the rear axle as well - there are places where you can't see rust unless you really look for it, and there can be a LOT of it.

I'm sure you can remove the body from the frame and create a new part, but if it's that bad there, the question arises: how bad is it everywhere else? and is it worth it to patch it up, rather than replace the frame or the car?
