Correct control arm finishes?

Does anyone know what the correct front/rear control arm finishes are? I thought they were black but saw a restored frame on Wings auto art website that has all the control arms painted cast color?

I thought those pieces were dipped in black paint before they were installed to help protect the metal. I used Seymour's GM chassis black paint on mine.

Crappy uneven semi-gloss chassis black.

Anything you do will be higher quality than what GM did.

yep - satin / semigloss black for the fronts....
Backs that I have seen were always rusty, so I assume those can be cast grey (natural)

On 66 stuff, the front lowers seemed to be dipped to within a couple inches of the ball joints. That end was left bare. Front uppers were semi gloss black. Rear were unpainted; a pair of NOS rears I bought in the 1970s were completely black-out coated.
