Bent Steering Arm?

Never really noticed this before... but is the pass. side steering arm supposed to have more of a bend in it? See pics below.

Looks bent to me, too. But how?? I figured something else would give first.

Mine are curved about the same but one has a slight extra twist at the tie rod mount though.

BTW, SHARP looking chassis!! Did you have the back plates and brake mounts replated or bought repro?

Replated originals. All those parts (spindles, backing plates, caliper brackets, steering arms) are from 2blu. I painted the spindles/arms with Cast Blast. The caliper brackets and backing plates were replated by Steve Gregori @ brakeboosters.com.

I guess it is all 2blu's fault then, sending me bent stuff n all.

Can you see any fatigues in the arm, or possible points of impact? I wonder what the odds are that it was made like that from the factory... Possible??
With the right wheel alignment, the car should have driven okay... I am sure John overlooked that extra curve.

I was talking to Steve last week about plating my parts when I send the booster, but not sure if the cost is worth it. They are so hidden... Thought about using Eastwoods zinc paint on the backings... Hmmm....

Doesn't appear to be. Below is comparison of my originals (light gray). Mine are from my '72 and the ones from 2blu4u are from a '71.

I would at least get backing plate and caliper bracket repros. They are cheap and look purty. I have a set here I never used b/c I ended up finding nice orig ones from 2blu.

I've got to say, just from looking at the photos, and not from any particular knowledge, it looks like a manufacturing variation to me. Some of these parts had a broad range of "acceptable" characteristics because of adjustable components. I really can't say for sure, though. I will say that John wouldn't have sent them to you if he thought there was anything wrong with them, for whatever that's worth.

I'm sticking to my original answer, while you could definately adjust the toe to get it straight, it's tweaked for sure. Just seems to turn down more than it should which might not be good for the outer tie rod.

I've been working on cars for a living for more than 15 years you'd be suprised how "easy" something like that will bend. Sucks its so pretty to

It aint aint bent??

Oh well, there is always MY origs. they are powdercoated in an pitiful light gray though, would need to scuff them and paint Cast Blast like the others.

Now I have tie rods with BLUE boots which is weird. They might as well be blue and yellow to match the circus shocks, LOL.

Coinsidentally, thats what I called them last year in my rear rebuilding thread. However I fixed that by painting them "GM shock gray"...

Yeah I remember you mentioning that about the 'shock gray'. I ended up leaving them as-is though. If I have weird dreams about it, I will paint them.

With the car on stands you are at the extreme end limit of travel, so everything always seems twisted. I bet it will look complete different with it on the ground.
