Noticed in my parts manual that the 70 and 71/72 Radiator Core Supports have different part numbers. Anyone know the difference and whether or not a 71/72 support can be used on a 70 model?

No-not interchangeable.

Hood latch, grills, headlight buckets, all are different. You'd have to replace them all including the hood to swap core supports.

The 1970 grilles only go up to the front edge of the hood. The 71/72 grilles are taller and actually go up into notches in the leading edge of the hood. The core supports are different because of this. This is also why the 70 hoods and 71/72 hoods do not interchange. Note that the 71 and 72 core supports interchange but they are slightly different.
