62 Olds Frame

I have a 1962 olds 98, with rust in the mid section of the frame. I am in New Zealand. Can anyone advise me of the type of frame used by GM for this car. Is it the same frame for other GM cars . Will other frames work if this one can not be repaired. Also would anyone know of a place to try and source a frame in good condition.

If you're refering to the section of Frame that runs behind the rocker panels, that should be easy to fabricate and butt weld it in place.
Before you cut the frame section out and remove any body mounts make sure you have the car Squared up first, and weld a support section in to keep the Frame alignment in place. This will only be until you have your rusted out section replaced.
If You find this to be a real challenge,(because it is) have a look at www.indianapontiacs.com as he has a '61 '98 four door he is parting out and will ship World wide!!! Some American built Pontiacs have similar Frame sections but the frames are not interchangeable.
Hope this helps, Good luck.....

Thanks for the reply, I have sent a request. The section of the frame (Chassis) is where the frame comes down from the front suspension just behind front wheel and drops down and runs under door sill. It has rust all the way back to around the back door.
