1971 Cutlass Hood Lock bolts
1971 Cutlass Hood Lock bolts
Could someone provide me a picture of how the hood lock is mounted to the core support? And also the bolt size I'd need. I have misplaced them. Car is a 1971 Cutlass S.
Are you talking about JUST the three bolts that hold the actual hood lock to the large top metal surface of your core support. If so, there will be THREE 5/16" hex flange bolts used. OR....if you have the remote hood lock option, it uses TWO 5/16" hex flange bolts and ONE hex flange nut.
Thread length on the bolts is approx 3/4" or so.....these are the same or extremely similar to the bolts that hold your radiator top plate to the core support...just pull one of those and you'll see that they work on the hood lock as well.
These are regular machine threads...not coarse/sheet metal type threaded bolts.
To install the hood lock you need to "fish" it into place from UNDERNEATH the top surface metal of the core support. Put the main upper part of the lock up through the rectangular hole in the middle of your core support top flat metal area and install the bolts or bolts/nut.
