Hi everybody , I’m new here and I’m looking for a car for my father in law. I’ve been searching for months for his first car that he bought when coming to America. It was a 1994 Cutlass coupe with the 3.4L. The color was bright aqua metallic with black leather interior. It was stolen years back and I’m looking to surprise him and buy him a car. he found old photos and it brought up memories. If anybody has one for sale in the NY area I would really appreciate reaching out , thank you so much -Nick C

I bought my 96 98 from a small dealer in Houston that advertised on Offer Up. FB Marketplace is also a good place to look for car deals. CL isn't what it used to be.
You are describing the exact one I bought new in 1994, I still have it after getting it back from my brother. It now needs some front end work. Tell you what, I will keep a look and report back if I see one for sale somewhere. I just drove my white 1996 CS this past weekend with the 3.1 motor from Ct to our new home here in South Carolina, it got 30.8 mpg. The 3.4 won't do quite that good but it may go 26 mph or so hwy.
If you do find an advertiser on CL with the car you want just make sure to be smart about it. Most local police departments have a designated parking spot with 24/7 camera coverage for citizens to do internet deals. If the seller isn't willing to meet like that then that would send up a red flag!
Olds 64, GREAT lead on using OfferUp.com, I just browsed through it and it's good to see a decent amount of 1992-1997 Cutlass Supremes for sale, including convertibles. If a low mileage Sunroof car ever comes up.......I just might be interested in that.
Quick question, does it have to be code 43 Bright Aqua Metallic, this color was only used in 1992, 1993, 1994. There are sightings of a 1995 CS made using this color but I've never see any. In wanting a 1994 I get that as the 3.4 in 1994 was slightly higher rated in the Horsepower Category than the 1993. If you are open to another color you can get the 3.4 up to 1996 I believe.
But if I were you I'd stick with it, one will turn up.
In looking at the photo, it's a 1992-1993-1994 year, but I'm thinking its a 3.1, I could be wrong. Its got the "sawblade" wheels rather than the 5 spoke wheels, and I don't see a 3.4 DOHC badge on the front fender in front of the wheel. I could be wrong, after all these years that's plenty of time for the 3.4 badge to fall off (as the header panel badge has already done) or the car was repainted & it was not reinstalled.
This one may be a "close but no cigar" car, but again, it sure looks like a decent one and they are hard to find in decent shape.
Also, am I seeing a Sunroof up there? HOLY COW!

I don't know the owner. I drive a residential garbage truck and the car is on my route. The car has been sitting in the same spot for a long time so I doubt it runs.
Loved my '94 SL coupe w/3.4. Was white. Fun, spunky car to drive, mileage was eh for a V6; averaged 18 mph, 24mpg going to Vegas. Like the improved dash intro'd in '95 and the 3.4 got bumped to 215hp the last year of '96. My perfect Frankenstein version would have the '96 215 horse, in a last year '95 conv (w/the better dash, too) with the early 90's 4 bucket seats. Always liked the W bodies with the 4 bucket look....
There is another "Close but no cigar" candidate on OfferUp.com right now, it's the color you want but, it's a low option SL with the 3.1 liter motor, only 75,000 miles. A nice one in Oregon. If you can live with the motor there's always the possibility of grabbing a set of 5 spokes to replace the sawblades and then get a set of tail lights & a lip spoiler for the trunk. I did that with my white 1996, it really helped the appearance of it, IMHO.
I'll keep looking. You'd be the right buyer for mine but I've got as much attachment for it as I do my blue 79 Calais. These 2 cars will be with me to the end. I've finally lined up a repair shop that's going to do some needed front end work on it. The intake manifolds have been replaced and the timing belt was just replaced. SO, it should be ready to go until I croak, I guess,
well this is not a hardtop but it is teal with a 3.4.https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1046531006068122/?hoisted=false&ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A65bc573d-6555-4b5e-baec-6ecc7403595e
Jumpman23, now I know why you want one of these, I just got mine back from the mechanic who "re-installed" the front strut cartridges on my Aqua 1994 SL, man, did I do a BAD job!. I am floored on how well it's running and riding now. It's 1994 all over again when I bought it new!. I now have it where I want it, intake manifold gaskets replaced, timing belt replaced, new struts all the way around, this car is now good to go!
I will keep looking for one for you. Don't compromise on the motor either. Hold out for the 3.4. Take it from one who's been driving a 3.1 for the last 5 years, and now I'm back in my 94 with the LQ1. Those extra 50 horses with the 4 valve heads really do make a giant difference. The white 1996 with the Buick 3.1 is nice, and will do 80 on the highway, but it really doesn't seem to like it. The 210 hp LQ1 motor will run all day at that speed effortlessly.
I realize you are looking for a one-year car but it's out there. You will find it.
im looking for his model year or newer with the 3.4L , thank you thought I appriciate it
Did any of the slightly earlier ones, 1989- 1993, have the Buick 3.3L? Am of opinion that is a considerably more durable engine. 90 degree, Iron block and heads, proven design. Just my opinion. Have had several, done almost no repairs to them, other than basic maintenance, and their now thirty plus year old drivers.

I'd like to see more of these cars in OCA. There is definitely interest, and yet to this day there is no Model Year Advisor for them.
The first year for the LQ1 was 1991, and it was an "Engine Package" that included heavy duty cooling, 16" alloy wheels, performance tires and FE-3 Touring Suspension System.
For '91 you could get a 5-speed manual with the LQ1, and included a 3.67 final drive. I don't have a '92 book but the LQ1/MM5 may have been a one year only; the MM5 wasn't available with LQ1 by '93.
It's also interesting to note that you could not get LQ1/MM5 in a four door sedan.
Hello,
I am selling an aqua blue 1992 Cutlass Supreme International. 3.4L Twin dual cam V6 with a factory 5 speed manual transmission (Getrag 284) This is one of the 112 made in 92 with a manual trans. I am located in NJ if you are still looking and interested. I was actually going to post it for sale online tomorrow, but given the rare nature of this car I came across this forum and signed up. I will get some photos tomorrow and try posting it for sale on this forum before I try Craigslist or Facebook marketplace.
