A word of advice, always put Olds or Oldsmobile in front of Vista Cruiser when you search or you end up looking at a lot of boats, motor homes and motorcycle cruise control units.
But then again ...some people don't put Olds in the ad and you may miss a deal, never mind.

You seen that Vista for $35,000 that needs work Rob??

Thanks for the search links - they worked, but did not bring back the slew of cars i hoped to see. those wagons in good shape and better are hard to find...

I sure hope someone grabs this project for 800 bucks and restores it...

This one is a '67, but I just love the paint job!! Wow...........

Looks to have no A/C though...

Maybe I should just give up and get this one...

If you'll give me 35K for it I will...okay...let up...you just beat me down to 25.

I like that bike, I forgot about those Vista Cruisers, I did a few of those extendo fork mini-bike deals, power by Briggs & Stratton.
My dream is a Schwinn Orange Crate, the rich kids whose daddies bought them 442's in high school had them as kids.
I'll settle for a Lemon Peeler or Cherry Picker.

Out of all the Vistas I could buy from members here, yours would be the last I could get.
After all, what would we rename you to once the Vista is gone?

I think this thread needs to be a "No girls allowed" thread now....

Those are such cool bikes...
I still have half of a Grey Ghost up in my attic. In stock form it would have looked like this:

Since it was partially stripped when i got it, I added a BMX setup for the front end and seat. I later replaced the wheels with Huffy aluminum Mags - I kept the rear slick though.

My friends and I used to collect trashed bikes and turn them into frankenstein bikes. The Grey Ghost frame was the ONLY one I did not break doing jumps and dumb stunts. In fact I cracked my skull and tore off part of my forehead before that frame ever gave - I did make the farthest jump that day (including the 12' skid on my forehead). That was my last day of my stunt riding. "Gone with the Schwinn" I called it...

Maybe it is time to bring it gown and restore it - takes up less room than VC's...

Na - I still need and want an Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser wagon.

This car looks nice in the fuzzy black and white pic.
Good interior is rare.
I was all ready to call and head down there to check it out if the guy still has it. Almost gave my wife another heart attack when I told her so I thought I ought not should do that.
I'll give her another month to recuperate.

If Rob is flexible here's an alternative to a Vista Cruiser

http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/1921717733.html

Bolt in a bench seat in the back and you are ready to go.

True - not bad but a lot can be said here. Looks a bit too cheap to be in the condition i am hoping for.
If it is close by, maybe you can seak a peek for me (don't tell the wifey though.)

Uh, yea....
Not quite that flexible.
However, when it is my turn to go, I do hope to go to my final place in an Olds hearse (if I am not creamated like I hope.)

A dealer bought that copper colored AZ flat top down the road that the guy was asking $3600 for.
It's $5950 now.
That Vista is near Columbus, not really close by for me, doesn't Jaunty live down in that neck of the woods?
You never know with cars like that, wish there were more pics.

It's a never messed with beauty and the right color in and out Rob.
Nicest one I've seen for sale in a long time, the paint and woodgrain almost looks too good.

I've been thinking about the SS III wheels with whitewalls look, not sure yet.

Wow, you're not kidding...that car is beautiful. Sure looks like a turn-key VC to me.
Looks very similar to my 70 VC I sold a few years back. I had rebuilt the 350 and switched from a 2bbl to a 4bbl - it was still a pig. I was getting maybe 12-13 mpg driving around. Maybe a little better on the freeway. I also put 15" SSIII on the car with BFG/TA rwl tires, although I think these wheels look good with whitewalls too. I thought the 15" filled in the wheel wells better than the 14" and also helped handling. Had I kept the car I think adding a rear anti-sway bar would have helped too.

btw, Blue...I have a pretty decent 1970 Schwinn Cotton Picker I used to display with my Pace Car that I am willing to part with if you're interested

The fun premium has to be figured into the smiles per gallon cost.
I have heard that the 15" wheels help handling a lot on the Vistas.
First I have to wear out the 14" tires I have now to justify the cost to the boss.
I don't even know if the thing can do a burnout, then I could wear them out one at a time.

The Cotton Picker is the white version I assume?
Sure I'd be interested in the bike, it would complete the list of all things wanted as a kid, except actress Jill St. John.
I could throw some woodgrain on it and display it with the Vista.

This one's a three seater and pretty nice.
The guy sunk a lot of cash into that car.
It's not a Cutlass Vista though.
I'm surprised he doesn't mention that it's a three seater and that it has mirrored roof glass, at least it looks mirrored in the pics.

I remember this one from long ago. It belongs to 1001coins, here on this forum.
Yes it is very nice and worth the price, but something about it just did not fit my use. Can't remember what it was.
....................... Looking back I think i was confused on the colors. The big pictures I now have were taken in a dark area so i could not make out the color or details. In the above listing, it looks swell!
Only bad thing is that it is on ebay and I do not use them anymore. If it does not sell, i will recontact him privately.
I still want a Vista!

Sweet looking wagon, but it is missing the TX life-support system known as A/C...
The wagon will eventually be a daily driver when the Caddy develops its first major problem and is sold.

Talking So should I get this one?

Well I have been drooling over this one for quite some time now.
http://s179.photobucket.com/albums/w...sta%20Cruiser/

It is now time to decide whether to actually get it or not. It is near Lansing and I would plan to fly there and drive it home like I did with Lady.

The paint and body is what has be intrigued. I love the color. It is more gold and less green than it appears with the grass reflections.
The engine will need a reseal and repaint - that's the worst part about the car.

It will almost be a repeat of Lady in the way I will acquire it and restore it. It is about in the same condition as Lady, except from the non original 350 engine (yes the engine is supposed to be gold).

It has about 110k miles on everything but the engine, which is unknown.
It is said to start, run, and drive very well.

I think the 7k asking price is fair due to the nice paint and body.
There is a little rust, but nothing too bad.

So what you guys and gals think?

Yes, I checked into this one last month and talked to the seller. He is not skilled in picture taking, so I could not get many good ones.
The turnoffs (from what he told me) were that the woodgrain is faded and there is some rust in the tailgate and around the roof windows. Hard to see this in the pics.
So, that in my mind triggers a needed repaint.

I see he has lowered the price more. Since it is so close, i might go check it out this weekend and see what other ideas could be had.

Even if the price was the same, I was just not wanting to go through the trouble of a repaint. I could see that leading to a frame off.

Since someone resurrected this I believe gearheads has a flat top he's trying to sell. Looked like a nice project!

I had been eyeing that one for some time, but it is green. As a daily driver, I do not want green or blue or yellow or orange. Sure I could have it repainted, but bodywork just ain't for me. It looks nice as it is for a collectable - hate to change it either way.

I had toyed with the idea of having him repaint it and changing the inside color, but that is just too much work. Do not want to get into another project myself. It really needs to be good looking, reliable, leak free, I also decided that I want the longer Vista style. Only room here for none (well, one) so I need to get just what I want.

I was just thinking of Richards because it's a blank slate!! And Rob, sorry I know how picky you are, so you can turn it into what ever you want. Since Richard is working on it anyway, and you don't seem to be in a hurry, possibly you and he can reach an agreement to where with your budget, and his skills may intermingle and create something awesome.

Wow - this one looks like a basket case... Maybe just a paint job away from a nice DD, but paint and body work is what I want to stay well away from...

Do not like the fact that a broker is selling it - too many variables in their 'contract' and I got tired of trying to understand it. I am not about to pay sales tax on 15k twice, either!

Nice survivor - price is right. Not up to be a daily driver, even if I could get to love the yellow exterior. Has rust around the roof windows.

It would be a fun and fast DD, but not economical by any sense... Guest I should add fushia to "the colors to avoid" list...

But it is more like "don't want to"...
I helped a friend do some bodywork recently - just a time (and space) consuming process of making dust.
I can do so better and faster with the leaf shredder...

Thanks Allan - post 'em here!
