Nice custom paint is fine if tasteful. One-off wild paint jobs are not my style.
but but but, it's in one of the colors master Rob doesn't want.....

IMO it's a great looking car. The only color I didn't really like on the VC was that one with the white roof and orange lower. Had a chance to buy a local 70 VC 2 years ago. It was a runner but needed work. Where would I put it though is my biggest dilemna. My son prefers driving my Sonata because it has more room. (He's 6'3" and long legs). He's ridden in my 72 and it's comical. He has to slouch to fit.

And the guy would only accept green as payment. No way would I be walking around with such a huge wad of cash...

If I was in the market for a Vista this one looks jam up and jelly tight for the deniro, although not a fan of the color green in general I'd have to say sequoia green would be my personal preference of the three different greens offered (no offense Sandy ) but for me what really kills it is the pea green interior. Now if the interior was black or sandalwood then the exterior color could be limitless, almost

Very nice looking car, but 455 equipped is one of the no no's on Rob's list. Where are all these great looking cars popping up from?

Nice to see the seller used the 'make an offer' option. I'd really like to know where they found the woodgrain decals for that car. Looks really sweet.

Rob here's one I found in an auto trader type magazine. The ad says

1970 Vista Cruiser Station Wagon
Original 350 Rocket, nine passenger wagon, optional third row seat, power front disc brakes, ps, nice interior, new paint, new exhaust, new battery, rear shocks, SS II wheels, good tires 2nd owner Bettendorf , IA 563-529-3837 $4,400

It appears to be a nice brown or copper color.

The red car is quite nice I must say. Yes the 455 and partial AC are strikes though. With this job I have now, i would have no time for wrenching. Upsetting but still looking for something better.

Well I went out to the garage and only found engines that were bolted into vehicles. I must have lost the rest....

That looks like a very nice car with the right driveline and a realistic price. Especially if the hood is factory issue.

Seriously? How many VC's do you think came from the factory with a W25 hood on a 350? That's not to say that it couldn't have been added later I guess. The photos don't show it very well with all the glare and there aren't a lot of good detail shots.

Still, nice find Clint! It's one of the right color combos the Dark Lord was looking for.

For clarification, I meant factory issue versus reproduction.

Point taken. It would be nice to hope for that as the 71/72 OEM OAI's command top $$, but IMO I'd bet that it's a repro. I can still see overspray on the frame from the recent paint in one shot. I'd love to see more good pics of the car and what mechanical work has been done, along with a complete list of what needs doing instead of the vague 'etc..' in the ad. No mention of the cars actual mileage makes me curious about the rebuilt engine. Front seat looks good and the dash doesn't appear cracked.

The Vista could've been ordered with the W25 hood, but this one doesn't appear to have been "born" with it to me. A peek under the hood would answer some of my questions. But still nice nonetheless.

70 VC in Kelowna

Here is one in Kelowna BC for $2500.

Has anyone ever seen a VC built with a vent less dash & power windows before?. Very strange combination.

Not all that strange Dave. The cars with the vent windows and no AC were commonly equipped with the no vent dash. Something I questioned a few years ago and got schooled on. FWIW, if I had a car with no AC I'd sure as heck want PW so I didn't have to stop and unroll them by hand when I wanted extra ventilation.

The color is quite nice. While woodgrain was not preferred, it does look quite nice with that combo.
My top color pick is gold! This one is pretty close. A deep red or burgandy would be nice, too.
Saddle interior is top pick too!

I do like it - it got the rusty gears in my head turning again, for sure.

Thanks for the offer - i will let you know if I get to that point. Only a couple good pics on that ad that really sells it.

Haha - yes it is still going on, just casually now and as a result I am pickier.
70-72 body style is required, still. I would like the interchangeability with some parts left over from my 72. 1970 is my favorite style, especially in the factory gold color! Nothing against other years - they are beautiful in their own way.
That one you mentioned is one sweet ride! However the lack of AC is a strikeout. In TX, it is life-support.

Wow after all these years still no luck????...Funny how I now own the 70 green flat top. Has mileage still in the 20,000 range and the car is absolutely the best running driving rust free car i have owned. we take it on family vacations, a/c blows cold and I get buisiness cards from guys all over with offers. I decide not to sell because I feel it is irreplaceable. Good luck with your search, this would have been a nice one to aquire. and it spent some time in TX, I just removed the 2005 sticker from the windshield. wagon-1.jpg

This one is not far from where I grew up. I am certain it won't be "the one" but hey, we gotta keep the unofficial "Vista Cruisers for sale" thread alive right??!!

Holy Vistas! This one is pretty darn close to what I want!
Only thing I see 'wrong' is the faded woodgrain.
Looks almost to nice for a daily driver, but I do not drive far anymore anyway.
Love that underhood job - looks a bit familiar!
Any idea what outside color that is? Gold or the caramel color? Hard to tell from the pics and my screen.
Certainly worth some good thinking about.
Not all original as he says, but it still looks great.
Now did the vented hood go on AC cars in '70? They did not in '72...
Thanks for keeping the thread alive!

That's a very nice wagon. Now, if only there was an Oldsmobile show within a couple of hours drive to take it to in July..
