Hello Idaholc: There are two generations of Vista Cruisers: 1964 - 1967 - the body shell is the same for the most parts with changes every year to the lights and interior styles. More options were added as the car sold better. The roof glass over the rear seat was a two piece design. There was a major body style change in 1968 and the car was smoothed out. The glass above the rear seat was now a one piece design. The 68 and 69 Vistas are very close in style with the same front fenders. The hood and grill were different for these years. The 70 - 72 styles were also similar with hood and grill changes over these years. Vistas Cruisers were available in the 1973 up body style which are nice wagons but lost the roof glass. I would suggest you want a 1964 - 1967 for the first series. Vistas are gaining in popularity since they were popular back in the day. They were also work horses back in the day and so used up and tossed. Prices now reflect the fact nice ones are hard to find. My buddy sold an excellent restored 67 10 years ago for $12,000 and would be hard to duplicate for that money. Best of luck on our search. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles.

You might want to give some consideration to the white 65 Vista Cruiser for sale on Seattle Craigslist. It's a solid and clean car. I know the owner, he's a younger guy and purchased the car out of California a few years back, his name is Mario. He would like to just keep it but has a young family now, and that obviously takes priority over having a cool toy. Being that you are in Idaho, it's not all that far away to find a somewhat difficult to find car.
The ad says this one is not road ready having the interior removed and figure it needs brakes and tires. It has the Olds body colored rally wheels, power steering and brakes, plus a tilt steering wheel. No air conditioning. It is white with a blue interior with several photos on Craigs. You can see rust in the lower front fenders but a good price for someone that would not mind some work. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles

Yeah that's not Mario's car. His is definitely a 65 and in my opinion, much better shape than that 67. I put the word out to him to get it re-posted. I didn't realize that his posting had expired, so thank you Trent!

I like the San Diego 67 better than the Seattle car. The San Diego car has much less rust and more trim in place. i also like the wood decal along with the trim that goes with it. Both cars are no air cars with power steering and brakes. The 72 wagon is pretty and I like the colors plus it has air. Interesting a 72 with a 70 tailgate, so there is a story involved. That 67 Jaunty posted looks like the one Eric Pope owns/owned? I also wonder if they added the handle when they restored it thinking it was proper or helps with keeping fingerprints off of the paint?
