Looking for my old high school 442s

Greetings everyone,

I would sincerely appreciate any information on either of my old high school Olds 442s that I sold in the late 1990s - please pass the word around.

I sold my 1968 442 my when I was a Junior at Bella Vista High School (Fair Oaks, CA - northeastern suburb of Sacramento) in 1995. It was a willow gold (green) post coupe, numbers-matching, auto-console, with power windows, a/c, tilt, and am/fm radio. At that time, the bucket interior was green but with black carpet. Furthermore, the vertical fender stripe was incorrectly placed horizontally following the rocker panel. Last 8 of the VIN are 87114152.

In early 1996, I found a 1970 W-30. It was an incorrect off-turquoise holiday coupe with a black bucket interior and a standard auto console; non a/c, power brakes, and manual everything else. The block was numbers-matching, but had J heads, an Edelbrock intake, Mallory ignition, and a Holly DP. I had a quickie-repaint in the off-turquoise and sold it in 1997 to a guy in San Francisco who was planning a frame-off. He happened to contact me after shortly after he bought the car and decoded the plate to reveal that the car was a factory black-and-gold-stripe car. Last 8 of the VIN are 0M172411.

I can provide the CA license plates also.

I realize that they could be anywhere, including as post-scrapyard metal shavings. However, I'd be regretful if I didn't at least try.

As, an aside, I also had a 1970 442 during ownership of both the '68 442 and '70 W30, and was fortunate enough to still have her. Nonetheless, I would consider a dream come true to be able to find, and (ideally) reacquire, both my old Olds'. I think it would make quite the High School Reunion.

Thank you to all in advance.

-Christian

I think you've got something off with the 68 VIN.

A post Coupe VIN would be 344778("letter" or the number "1") and 6 numbers following it.

I don't have any helpful info for jonesolds442, but wish you Good Luck with finding your cars! I would love to have mine back as well. My first '68 Cutlass was totaled and probably scrapped shortly after the accident. My '69 4-4-2 was sold on the secondary market after I traded it in for a '79 T/A. I often wonder if the 4-4-2 is still turning heads somewhere.

Good Luck!!

You are correct; thank you ALLYOLDS68 for the typo catch.

The 68's last 8 are 8Z114152.

Believe "Z" is the former Fremont CA Assembly. There is a fairly good Wikipedia entry on the trials and tribulations of that facility.
