Even though the wife can't understand why, I am looking for a 2 door 88 from 1988 to 1990. I MIGHT consider a 1987 but I am looking for the 3800.

Owned a 1988 Delta 88 RB back in 1994 but it was a 4 door and I always looked at the 2 doors with envy. Ready to get out of my '93 Supreme SL and into a 2 Door 88. I am willing to do a road trip to go get it.

Awesome sauce. Thanks for the lead Roger. It is amazing to me how many B body coupes are available to buy versus the lack of H body coupes. Oh well, at some point I will find what I am looking for...

 

There were a lot more coupes built before '89 because the Cutlass Supreme came out in '88 and the W body coupe was a more modern car.

Being 20 years old now the '90 and '91 are very hard to find. The '91 H coupe is the rarest with just 458 RBs built due to production ceasing at the end of the calendar year. The '91 LN3 3.8 engine had the L27 bottom end.

I picked up this '90 in Decatur AL in 2007. It is one of about 1500 RBs built.

That is gorgeous. I loved the tail lights of the 90 & 91 back when I had my '88 88. Is that your daily driver?

It is interesting how much the interiors are different from prior years; no more plushy velvet couch potato seats with the buttons.

They had dechromed the car a lot by then too; body color front fascia, grill, headlamp bezels, blacked out rocker and sideglass moldings, etc.

It was a bit strange that they had a painted front end and the chrome bumper at the rear. My guess is that is one reason for the wide body side molding; it covered a lot of the chrome bumper.

 

If the 2 door & the 3800 are your primary objectives then include the LeSabre T type in your search. Those are some might fine cars.

 

They sure are, and after all they all came from the same line in Flint.

In many ways the T's were more sporty with the front air dam, rear spoiler, blacked out trim and buckets/floor shift interior.

The L67 supercharged 3.8 engine swap is popular among that crowd: I think it ads over 100 horsepower.

 

Interesting suggestion guys. I will look at that option as the search continues. I was looking at a beautiful $2500 4 door from Atlanta (103k miles) yesterday but I couldn't quite being myself to do it. I still want that elusive two door... Silly, I know but I've already owned three 4 doors.

Looking at your '74 though, I can say that you have almost the EXACT car that sparked my love for Oldsmobile. Same color, look, and everything. My dad bought a 1975 Cutlass Salon and told me that I was going to get that car when I was older... Drunk driver took it out while it was parked back in 1984. Its funny how history repeats itself- drink driver took my '93 Cutlass out while it was parked. My next Cutlass will LIVE in the garage!

I actually like that 2 dr, looks sharp. I owned a Delta just like that red 4 dr, worst Olds I have ever owned. Only paid $200 for it but our $500 81 Delta 88 4 dr was the best car our family ever owned. The 3.8 efi and 3800 were powerful motors but ran like ****. My 3800 did and my in-laws 86 did too. My Wife talked about how much power it had compared to 81 Delta. The Delta rarely needed to go to the garage, that 86 lived there. To be fair, our 81 Delta had the 307 Olds/TH250C with the Canadian non CCC set up, not even an air pump for that year. The early efi was to blame, barely threw codes and most techs didn't know what they were doing. The best method was to narrow it down and replace a few parts. Coil packs, crank pulley coming apart wrecking the sensor as well the maf were common issues. 80's efi were kind of like modern diesels, nothing but a headache.
