Custom cruiser

Hey...I've already bought one, thanks!

Looking for a good decent driver... 71-76 Custom Cruiser OR a 77-90. Must be a fully loaded car, WITH woodgrain on sides...I know there are out there, just not sure where!

Thanks!

Matt

I have a 1975 Custom Cruiser that was my grandparents' car.All original and complete. Power brakes, windows, etc .The car is very straight (there is one small rust spot by the back window) , the woodgrain and paint are fading. Interior is vinyl-I do not see any tears-but the door panels need work. The glass is all good (the back window motor or switch need replaced as the window does not work). I was planning to restore but have too many other projects. Let me know if you are interested and I can post pictures. John

Those Custom Cruisers are hard to come by. They are awsome cars.

It took me three years.

It helps a lot when there's no rust and no bodywork. Hooray for California desert cars. I grew up in the rust belt (Ohio), and it sure is a treat to take a bolt off that's been on for 40 years without having to soak it for three months in WD-40!

I've experienced this before.

A week is pretty quick, not impossible by any means, usually the guys say "Whenever it's done." when you ask how long.
Are they pulling the doors, hood and tailgate and doing the jambs, the insides of the doors/tailgate, rear edge of the fenders, fender parts under the hood?

My Vista is from California, I work slow, primed and long blocked that car 20 times looking for high and low spots.
No rust but the T boned front end and numerous dings and big fire hydrant cap crease down the right side can be had anywhere.
You don't see much sunburned paint around the rust belt though?

In all likelihood, it will take them about twelve (business) days. They will do a draw down on the paint and I will get to approve it before they shoot it. They usually call me in if they find some bodywork that needs to have attention. It just depends what they run into. I could only spot three dings in one door, and one in the tailgate. It's a super straight car. They are doing the door jambs. I am not bothering with the underhood, since it's filthy, and it going to be a daily driver for me. I just want to look good while driving...

Oh, I'm jealous! I love those wheels and I would love to find a set for my Regency! Where did you find them?

Of course I HAD to fall in love with the one year only alloys.

I found this set on ebay. I've seen a few sets in the last year or so. These have Buick centers, they were badly scuffed up, so I didn't feel bad about spraying the centers gloss black. Am hoping to find some sort of Olds Rocket to affix to the centers. In the meantime, the plain black looks great.

I also have a pair of these wheels, Would love to find another pair and have a set...I think they are really cool, too...of course, I'd be willing to sell this pair...

They are prepping the car now, waiting on the side trim to be mounted, can't wait to get it back to drive this Winter!

Looking Good......!

I also have an '86 Custom Cruiser, but I'm probably going to just sell it
since I don't really have the time or money to fix it up like yours. Mine has some minor rust around the rear side windows, but not too bad.

Have you replaced the headliner in yours? Mine is gone except for the black foam crumbling all over everything. The interior is in great shape otherwise.

The headliner in mine is perfect. The carpet and seats are good, the bottom of the front seat is looking thin, but no tears...will likely replace the bottom fabric in a year. The dash pad has a crack in it, but I think I can repair it.

The worst part of the interior are the cargo area side panels. One is a little abused looking, and the spare tire side is 'flaking" but I can live with it until I find a replacement.

I still need to find a BELTLINE CHROME STRIP for the DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT FENDER! HELP!

Woodgrain Installed!

Just had Woodgrain 4 Wagons install the wood on my 86 Custom Cruiser on Dec 28. Looks fantastic! Still need to get the beltline stainless trim installed. This should happen in the next week- I'm missing three pieces:

The Driver's side front fender, the sections fore and aft of the fuel door filler.

Anyone have them?

Happy New Year!
