I ran into a Chicago area couple who are seriously looking for a Viking Blue, white interior 442 automatic car. It needs to be all done, not a project. If anyone has such a car, I'll pass on their contact information to you.
They only mentioned 70-71. I think that may have just been an oversight. I think they'd jump at the chance regardless of year. I'm not that up on what years the color was offered. If you know of a 72 that fits the description, please let me know and I'll pass the contact on.
The feed back I got was not in terms of $'s but rather, they did not think they could afford a show car or a W30, so it seemed the expensive cars were already ruled out. Seemed genuinely interested in finding the car and not dreamers.
I would consider selling my '70, which is painted viking blue. Original color was #20 Azure blue. It is not a true 442, but it is a factory, numbers matching 455 - purported to be an SX in it's previous life from the guy I bought it from in 2008, and I take his word for it but can't document that.
Not a car for the purist, but definitely a decent car. Tons of $ spent on it by me on suspension, body, engine. Interior is a little tired but presentable. PM me if this is of interest to your folks and I'll provide more info. A few pics of the car:

Thanks. There are also, somewhat surprisingly, three '71 Viking Blue convertibles for sale on e-bay at the moment. Two are 350-powered clones currently bid between $19K and $22K, and W30 they say is real for a cool $180K....

I don't care for '72s in comparison. Feel the same way with GSs and SSs - it's the black trim I don't like.
If not that, I can see people having the mistaken perception that they're slower.

also, a lot of classic/hot rod/custom shows have a cut-off year entry of "pre '72"... meaning you can show pre-register and drive a '71 ride onto the show grounds/lot but they'll reject a '72 ride's registration even if it's a factory high-perf model....
one can sometimes e-mail the show's registration folks and explain that the '72 442 is nearly the same as the '71 model in both appearance and performance [if it has the bbo] then have it accepted into the show but generally it's a pita...
i think that the '72 'muscle car' model years are commonly perceived as the first year when the factory horsepower went really south due to smog and insurance regulations; this was true with most other makes outside of olds i believe, thus the 72s were no longer true muscle cars...
i personally don't like the '72 tailights nor the fact that it was the first year when the 442 became mostly a cosmetic trim available with any engine, not a separate factory hi-perf model with a unique vin# or at least having a 'special' stouter mill....
a "442" that could be ordered with a lame 2 bbl 350/350 combo just doesn't do it for me plus it can be nearly impossible to verify a factory 442 car from '72 without original bill of sale/papers [e.g. there's a dude on this forum who was told by an expert here straight up that his '72 ragtop isn't a factory 442 w-29 yet he keeps listing his grossly overpriced albeit nice cutlass f/s as a true 442 w-29 car all over different sites], therefore if i want a 442 i prefer nothing later than a '71.....
that's my personal reason why i don't much care for the '72 cars, others might have different ones....
To Vette 442, Please check. 1972 Cutlass Supreme 442's were also shipped from the factory with code 28 paint, known as Twilightblue in 1970 and was also offerred in 1972 under the name Royal Blue. It was Same color as code 28 but renamed Royal Blue for some reason. I could be wrong, so please double check
