Tis the season for undocumented 70 W30's,so here is one in my building:
1970 442 W30 hardtop,4-spd,hardtop,astro blue,blue bucket interior,blue vinyl top,built first week of December,1969,12A on cowl tag.Original number-matching engine,block dated 325,F-heads,dated 211 & 295,OLDSMOBILE W455 intake,and 1111977 distributor.The original carb and aircleaner are missing.Original number-matching KA-code M21 4-spd transmission.Original TO-code 3:91 posi rear.Original master cylinder for manual disc brakes.
Interior is bucket seats,console,tilt column,sport wheel,AM radio.This came from the factory without the rally pack.Never had one.Lack of hole in firewall will prove that.
Body parts that are good: floors,doors,fenders,hood,frame/chassis
Body parts that are bad: both 1/4's,trunkpan,trunklid,rockers,radiator support,top of cowl,original red fenderwells are faded.
This is an original paint car,wearing the original black stripes,all original panels.This will be your only form of documentation.Nothing on this car has been disturbed,meaning nothing has been replaced or refurbished.
We have removed/kept the carpet,and removed the seat panels,looking for a broadcast card,but no luck.Unless it's wedged in a door panel or something,I don't think it's inside.The original gas tank is still in the car,as it was installed when new,but I have never found a paper up there for a Lansing car.
This car needs a complete restoration.It has sat for at least 25 years without driving or running.There are 3 things missing from this car: the 7040256 carb,the OAI breather,and a broadcast card or paperwork.
Price is $18,000.00

I've twice found broadcast cards and/or build sheets behind the door panels.
Both were Olds 98's however.

Also had a 64 buick that had the build sheet hog ringed into the seat.

That car looks like twilight blue. This one is Astro blue,which is lighter.
I had a rear seat from a Fremont car,that I needed the frame for. When I removed the vinyl cover,there was a sheet on the top of the pad. Anything is possible.

Both blue exterior's look great - tough to match-up the blue interior though. Very impressive W-30, especially being all original and untouched.

Brian, supposedly my "Oldsmobile Production Code "B" 1970 model" sheets for both my 70 W-31 and 70 SX came out of the headliners. It would not hurt to check if you have not already done so. They are great documentation and a wealth of information as I am sure you well know. That sheet is the only way that I can verify 100% that my car originally came with the SZ code 3.91 W-27 rear axle. If I did not already have 2 broadcast cards, it would also be the only thing verifying my W-31.

Hey Brian, Good luck on finding any pertinent paperwork, and good luck with the sale. It used to be Olds guys would buy from each other and not even CARE about paperwork because we knew the cars and trusted each other. Now that money has entered and changed everything, the all-important paperwork is worth more than the hard-to-find parts. Almost doesn't make sense and is somewhat sad.
That sounds like a great car for someone to do. My garage is literally busting at the seams, so I'm out on this one. Again, all the best of luck with your sale.
