That looks way cool! Looks like the roof was raised and the wheelbase stretched. I wonder if the factory did that or if it was an aftermarket job?

Nice car,I was thinking of converting it over to a Starfire version by adding side trim, seats, engine and tail light panel. The car is cool just the way it is and it's in canadian dollars too.

Very cool! I think most of the ambulance, hearse, and limo Oldsmobiles were made by one or two aftermarket coachworks back in the day. I recall reading about it on our site sometime ago.

Always thought it strange that they were built on Super 88 chassis instead of Ninety Eight. A lot of them were kind of sparse on luxury options too. You see this one doesn't have power windows. Kool Kars though.

There was a champagne colored one for sale here a little while back.
That's more like a funeral car being plain jane like that, be great for weddings, not much difference.
I would buy it and have my wife get a chauffeurs license and rent them out for weddings, pay for itself in a month and have quiet Saturdays as a bonus.

1962 Cotner-Bevington

I saw this car and knew I had to have it. Drove 200 miles to look at it and made the deal on Saturday,
It is a very high serial number car in good shape with only 73000 original miles. Was a private limousine.

Well congrats on the purchase George. So where are you located then? You should ad it into your profile so we can all see where you are on each of your posts.
Post up some pics of it if you get the chance. We are a big bunch of picture hounds here!

Posted some pics in my album, will get more when I bring it home.
Looking to have some fun cruising this summer.
Not many options, no radio, no air, non-power windows, just the 394 low compression 2 barrel with single exhaust(gotta get that fixed real quick).
Needs a nice set of Flowmasters.

Hi George,
Good to see the limo went to a good home and you can add the dual exhaust manifold from 63,64 394 and it will give that bad boy alot more breathing room.

happy camper

hi from George Lees better half lol
Not so sure i'm thrilled about flame throwers out the back or other ideas he has, but after all..
he could have bought this one
thhearse.gif
I think i'm rather fortunate he bought the olds limo lol..put a hot tub between the front and back seats..and a bbq pit in the trunk......
Now on a more serious note lol how does one go about finding the history of a vehicle other than the VIN info?
The limo has red plush interior, and the headrests have some sort of crest or logo embroidered on them..i dont have a clear picture to post yet...and the use of a small window in the back intrigues me.
Any input would be appreciated

The front seats actually look like they came out af a mid-70s Ninety Eight, and I doubt the plush fabric is original, but what the hey. Still a class act that you just don't see.

You should find a coachbuilder's body plate on the car somewhere that will show who built it and an order or sequence number. You can try the Professional Car Society http://www.professionalcarsociety.org/index.php who just happen to have a chapter that covers Manitoba http://www.northlandpcs.com/ .

George and Yvonne just got my vote for coolest car on the site!

EXCEPT

weddings are more expensive and the aftermath is continuous.
Don`t have to pay for your funeral and it`s peaceful thereafter

However, yes ,lovely car

George,

When you get around to doing the dual exhaust, would like to know what you find out about the driver side exhaust manifold, specifically whether or not it needs to changed. Have heard it does.

Am interested, as have the same engine and want to convert. Also, a friend with a 62 wants to do the same.

Remember to provide the details on going to duals.

Thanks -

As far as I know the driver's side manifold needs to be changed to clear the steering. One of our members; Coldwar, is a guru on the early 60s setups. He would know exactly what manifold is needed.

Should be able to route the drivers side through the same place as the Y pipe.
Didn't appear to be that tight from what I remember.

The 62 with the 394 used the same manifolds for both single or dual exhaust, instead of the cross over pipe going to the front of the right side manifold it would turn and run down the drivers side.A triangular plat would cover the opening on the right manifold and the bolts would hold it in place,I'm not sure where the heat riser went on 62 duals, but on 63/64 the dual exhaust manifold for the drivers side would reach far enough back to clear everything and the heat riser is attached to the drivers side.
I have heard from other members on this forum that the 63/64 dual exhaust manifold works well on the 61 and 62 FSC,they are available and show up every once in a while, the last one I saw was on e-bay and went for 200.00 dollars.
Hope this helps.

I did the same thing with a 70 olds 350 I had in a Dodge military ambulance except we just sealed up the exhaust at the back of the passenger side manifold by folding over the end of the pipe and welding it shut. That one sounded very sweet running through a set of four foot sidepipes.
Long time ago, far far away. lol
Heat riser is on the driver's side.

That is what I think, too! Seems to me the crossover pipe is already there on the driver side, running down and across. If there is room for it, there ought to be room to run a separate exhaust pipe, in lieu of the crossover?

In answer to the heat riser question someone else asked, for 1962 it is on the left exhaust manifold.

Have just discovered that it is 1 of only three limousines built in 1962 by Cotner-Bevington. No wonder it is so hard to find info.

At the top it states that the ad you were looking for is no longer available, so it was pulled.
