1970 Oldsmobile W31 4 speed

1970 Oldsmobile W31 4 speed

Here is a real W-31, 4 speed car. I am the 4th owner. It is documented back to the original owner. He was one of those guys who kept a note book for every time he filled it with gas or changed the oil. The car was well maintained not driven in winters. The log book, titles and previous owners support the 52,000 believed to be original miles.

The car is super solid with no major rust issues. Floors and Frame are really nice. The original flat ridge fenders were replaced when the car was repainted in the 1980s. (One complete repaint) The person I got the car from was a great care taker. He pulled the original engine disassembled it, cleaned it up with new rings, bearings and seals along with a valve job, so this W-31 retains all of its original select fit factory components. It sounds and runs fantastic. All body bushings were recently replaced and the car is nice and tight, unlike many restored examples.

This W-31 is all numbers matching original drivetrain. M21and 3.42 rear gear. All of the hard to find W-31 parts are present including carburetor and damper.

It has a console with bucket seats, sport wheel, AM radio and Ralley Pac gauges, The interior but for seat covers is mostly original and very nice. The wheels are 15” reproductions.

The overall paint job is weak and has lots of flaws. But it can be enjoyed as it is.

Color is Burnished Gold with Gold interior.

I’m only looking to sell outright. No trades, $53,500.00 obo or will perform a quality and correct repaint and detail for $80,000.00 to be completed for Spring of 2025. Call 630-377-1222 for more info or email NicKeyPerformance@aol.com

One of my favorite Musclecars. This is one nice car. It seems all the good cars are now priced around 55k.

Thanks for the positive comments. The color combo has grown on me. I like it. Even the door buzzer and dome lights all work as do all exterior lights. Everything but the radio works and I have not looked into that yet. Just not a priority with this car as it sounds so Kool. I enlisted the help of another member here to inspect and drive the car for me. So if you need and independent Olds experienced opinion, I'm confident that he will share his findings.

Please note that in decades of selling cars, you will not find one dissatisfied individual.

Stefano, I know you somehow. Either through this site or MCACN or something. I can't remember. I was injured last May and have never been the same. I don't have anything high end so It's not that.

So sorry about your injury! I don't recognize your Forum name. I have been around for a while and am directly involved with MCACN.

Not to hijack the thread, I know a person who shows some very high end Mopars in Chitown. I'll bet that's what I'm thinking. What a show. He had 4 W-30 vert/4 speeds at one time as well.

That is Tommy L, he has owned 4 of the 1970 W-30 4 speed cars as well as a bunch of other special muscle cars. He often opens up his collection/ Man Cave for Pizza and Beer during the MCACN event.

Correct. He knows me as GNX. I worked with him at the CME. When he sold that (I think) 71 Cuda ragtop/auto for a little under 1.7 I didn't see him for 3 months. First time I saw him he was driving a Plum Crazy 440 4 speed Cuda ragtop in a driving rainstorm on Wacker Dr. in Chi-town. I saw him exit the street into the parking garage for the Merc. I found him in person about 60 feet from where I stood in the pits. A very nice man. I, being a gambling man would bet I've met you.

At that point in time, one didn't drive those cars the way he does. You just didn't.

Holy Moly! I've had some horror stories with transport trucks in my day. Had two finish the last 30 miles to my shop in the middle of winter storms. Both cars were delivered covered in slush and ice an inch thick. Did they cut me a check? No. The transport started out enclosed both times. The truck broke down, both times. They finished the journey open. Fuuuudge. At least you don't have the option of finishing in a winter storm!

What an absolute beauty!

You mention the paint is weak with a lot of flaws but the pics don't show. Is it possible to get pics showing some of the areas that fall under that description.

Thank you, I will gladly take you up on your offer - I had several cars I was currently looking at purchasing one-of and this popped up adding to my potential decision pile. W31's have an open spot in my heart.

I made an offer on the blue one you sold last year but this is way more to my liking. Pics please - let me know if you need an email address or text number or...

Super solid underside and chassis. Floor pans, spot and pinch welds make my heart beat faster.

The more I see that car, the more I like it. I’m not a buyer as I have trouble keeping up with what I have now! If Stefano says it’s good, then it’s good. Life is short; enjoy it while you can!
