1973 Olds 442, 455CI., Hurst, Original, Arkansas

Hi,
Bought from a farmer who had it parked out in a cow field. All original V-Code engine with Hurst Shifter. It has a cowled hood , black and gold with black interior. All original rims, interior, dash, etc. I am just trying to sell it as a parts car although would make a great base for a full-on restoration. $3500.00 , please text me at 870-504-3388, I will try to get some photos of it up here today or tomorrow. It ran when parked but hasnt been started in 10 years or so. Best regards,

Jerry

Hopefully the H/O is restored. I did not know the '73 Hurst Olds was available with a manual transmission. Is the Hurst a W-46 version?

It was not available with a manual transmission, but came with the Hurst Dual Gate Shifter for the turbo 400 automatic.

I've never seen a Hurst car that has been sitting out for ten years that the plastic interior parts were not completely destroyed by heat and sun. Maybe the rest of the interior is ok, but the plastic parts will most likely be totally gone or turn to dust as soon as it is touched.

From his thread title and description, I'm thinking it's a 455 4 speed V Code 442, not a Hurst/Olds.

Probably called that because of the Hurst shifter. Some think that makes it a Hurst Olds.

The non air conditioning equipped 73 Hurst/Olds had V code 455 engines (with the V engine code designated in the VIN) but used higher performance TH-400 (code OW) transmissions with the Hurst Dual Gate shifter. The non air conditioning equipped 73 HOs are rare birds!!!

It could also be a V code 455 with Muncie 4 speed 73 Cutlass, Cutlass S, or 442. Pictures would tell the story very quickly. From his description and the color being black and gold, it sounds like a non-air HO.

who's going to see it?

Is there someone in Arkansas or a proximal state that could go see this car for us?

It looks like Jerry is MIA. Maybe a little early to think about getting pictures. Did anybody text Jerry?

I have noticed some people joining recently with cars they bought or are contemplating the purchase. They seemed to be more interested in what they could get for their car in a short duration "flip".
.....just my opinion

I suspect there are some of those guys trying to flip them before they have bought them. Imagine that, send them your money and then they go pay for the car. Pretty good work if you can get it.

I own Oldsmobiles because I like them and can afford to own them. I never thought about turning a profit on what I own. Maybe I have the wrong perspective ? Trading in stocks and bonds or bitcoins would mean I don't even get my hands dirty.
