I'm thinking about selling my 93' SCX W41. It's a completely original driver quality example. It is all original and never modified accept for wear and tear items like the starter, heater core, muffler, ect... I've owned the car and enjoyed it for many years and I've done my best to preserve this unique little hot rod. That being said it is far from perfect but it's all there and it wouldn't take much to restore it completely.
I'll ad more pictures for anyone interested in the car. Also we are located in the St. Louis area. I was recently driving the car 200 miles a day from St Louis to Rolla and back so it's pretty well sorted and darn reliable! I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere, then again I'm familiar with the quad4 and it's quirks lol.
She's also wearing a brand new set of bf goodrich radial t/a's!
I live in STL and went to college in Rolla so I'm familiar with that drive! Unique car, good luck with the sale!
thanks for the bump! It really is a great little car. I'm honestly more concerned that she goes to a good home more than anything else. I took the car to the Oldsmobile show at the museum of transportation last year and earned a plaque and it got a lot of attention! I did my best to share the rich racing history of these cars with everyone who came to listen!
That is not a bad price in my opinion. I had the Quad 442 version of the W-41 for many years. I would sure like to get another W-41 but not in the plans right now. Maybe by the time I am ready to get one I could buy my old one back. It is in my top 3 favorite Oldsmobiles I ever had.
When is the last time you guys saw Fargo? All those Oldsmobile blasting around in the snow ❄️? My W41 was awesome in snow but what I really miss about that car was the drivetrain, I really cherish the quad 4 power plant and once you got used to the shifter it wasn't so bad to get through the gears in a hurry
I dug this old thread up since I sold the car on here it's been so long just hoping the purchaser will reply and give us an update on how the car is doing pretty please?
PS: I'm SCCA autocross now since 2019 and I do street survival school as well, I knew what I had when I sold it but I would love the opportunity to field the Achieva on course now it was a really rare special car and it's performance should be showcased
I bet, good looking and good performer. Was she your first ?
Yes I haven't seen another one locally since I sold mine honestly I never see any kind of Achieva on the road anymore they're rare if you did find one in good condition these days it would probably be a four-door with a luggage rack on the trunk, or a collector grade w41
Hopefully they have come across the hands of true Olds guys as they would have the understanding of its lore and significance. And not treat it like a throwaway. Last W in history and performance equal to the original 442.
Outright Olds says only 500 total production for 1993.
"Some view the 1992-1993 Oldsmobile Achieva SCX as the final production of the 442 since GM used that name internally, and the car had the same drive train as the 1991 442 W-41." (just incase anyone had any doubt)
Thanks for sharing those articles guys makes me miss the car even more! 😂
That quad 4 was a spirited little engine I'd love to have another one, being an avid autocrosser, I think about what the iron Duke Camaro could and should have been Vs the svo mustang Remember that thing ? Now reimagine the evolution of it as a stripped down 4th generation Camaro or firebird with quad 4 (turbo?)power and your on to something!
