I'm not trying to be crass but, it's a Rallye 350..yes, but not a Hurst Olds. There are no documented W31 Ralleys, myth only. The #6 head was used on all 350's in 1970.

Sounds very good but how can it have a "dual gate" 4-speed? Am I missing something here?

W45 denotes H/O in other years not 1970, but in '70 W45 denotes the Rallye 350 option, and yes, it was to be the '70 H/O before morphing into the rallye, and being built by Olds, not Hurst. Annnnd yes I do like them!

Wow, that would have been wild with the purple. Anyone have drawings or images of this proposed setup? Love the Sebring Yellow, but I'm a little biased.

I heard there is/was 12 or 13 Rallye 350s with the W-31 motor.

that story has floated around for longer than when i got into Oldsmobile's in the late 80s. i have yet to see any documentation that one existed. i don't feel there was ever one made and won't believe it till i see documentation.

That one has been going on for awhile, and it was about that time that one of the car mags, made that claim. Helen Early had stated that none were built.

I think that "STORY" of the 12 or so Rallye 350s is a good "STORY". Until some REAL documentation surfaces I can only hope. No one wants it to be true more than me, and if a real car does exist, count me in as a buyer. I might have some interest in the car that is for sale here, but I really want a "stripped" (option-wise) post. Currently, there is a Sebring Yellow W31 for sale on eBay. It looks to be a fantastic car and given the rarity would be a good one to own----just not what I am looking for. The confusion about the W31 Rallyes could have come from a car such as this----a special order Sebring Yellow "Cutlass W31" not a "Cutlass W45". Until next time..... Dave.

well heres my story on that. back in 1999 at the olds nationals in texas i had a rallye 350 and got a 1st place with it. while there one of the judges introduced him self and told me i should join the rallye 350 club based out of trenton NJ. said he was the president of the club. while we were talking i asked him about the w-31 option and if he knew if any were installed in any rallye 350s. he replied they did exsist. that he had bought a rallye new off the floor and still had it,and that it does have the w-31 motor. said he had all the original papers with it. and that there were other cars in the club as well. cant remember the guys name,(age thing i guess), but everyone i talked to at the show said he was the go to guru on rallyes. any how, loved that car, best car i ever owned. but it went in the divorce. steve.

..and the legend continues! One day we'll get some documented proof and this question will be put to rest !

Cheers

I was going to offer that guess yesterday, got sidetracked.

His club no longer exists by the way and hasn't for some time.
