Wow, I really need to look closer at pictures from now on. Didn't even notice the rust on the quarters before being told it was there.

"Great car for a 442 or W-30 Tribute"

What a douchebag.

But there's no good reason to stay away. You had to get him to admit there are rust issues, but he's not lying in his description. Maybe caveat emptor?

Agreed, but that doesn't mean anyone should "Stay away." Instead, approach carefully and do your due diligence.

Hey the guy even said he had 50 other cars so he sounds like a real buy and seller guy.
Nothing wrong with it just be Honest. I had to ask him 4 times before he answered me about the condition of the cars body. He kept saying i didnt say there was or wasn't any rust.
it's still a very nice Color combo just in the wrong hands right now LOL.
yeah he wants 19500 and it needs 19500 worth of resto
Engine detailed trunk detailed alone is a big expense done right. the top looks like poo poo.

Probably a frontal impact at one time, as the front fenders have been replaced.

What difference does it make! You were a tire kicker anyways! Just saying. This guy is doing what a lot of car sellers do! He puts it out there hoping someone will buy the car! He is legit he told you that the car had rust in the end. You were not going to buy it in the first place! Hence tire kicker! Then you put this guy down! I think that is uncalled for. I am not saying this car was a good car just the seller looking for a buyer. No need to bash him just let everyone know the the car has issues so guys who might be interested are informed.

Crud, for a car in Chicago that thing is MINT. Actually 15k for a convertible SX isn't a bad price. Definitely needs some work but great color combination, has AC, PDB, PS, power locks, cruise control, dual gate, buckets and its a convertible. Maybe it has the OD trans still in it

Oh good come back after the fact. Why didn't you say that in the first place!!{You could have started out saying this car is a rust bucket i passed on because i found a better car and bought it.}Then i wouldn't have said tire kicker. Full explanation leaves no speculation.

Condition is very subjective, one persons junk is anothers gold. Some rust is to be expected in these old cars unless they have been stored in a bubble.

Not much different from putting a chevy engine in a oldsmobile when the olds was born with a olds. What about a ford engine in a chevy? Seen chevys motors in fords and i own a pontiac that has a olds motor in it when i bought it. Why live the lie because they can!LOL

I have to agree, the SX in itself is a really cool car, and somewhat of a sleeper (as much of a sleeper as something with 455 cubic inches can be!). Loses a lot of that when it's "cloned" into something it is not, but that's just my opinion.

Its a little more obvious to install a Chevy engine in a 70 442 than plastering 442 W30 all over it and and when someone ask if its real having to explain its a poser.
Putting a Chevy in a Ford or visa versa is nothing more than an attention getter, putting a Chevy in another GM product is sometimes a must do or leave the car parked situation.

Like i said they do it because they can.I know a guy with a 1968 chevell made to look like a yenko. The problem with that is yenko's were in 1969. He takes it to car shows and people gather around saying is that real! He is near so he can laugh at them.People do this because they can and sometimes just for laugh's.

You are right! I think he is dumb for doing that!! He brags about it to who ever will listen. I even told him to his face he was stupid to make his car with decals and head rest ECT ECT to make the unsuspecting who don't know better think it is real.

Being a complete novice , I appreciate people telling me to be cautious.
In the short time I have been looking I have found that the car being a 442 or a convertible makes a huge difference in price.
It's hard to fake a convertible , but some emblems and trim could fool a guy like me and end up costing me 50% more than the car is really worth.
I have no problem, if a guy wants to put them on the car just because he likes it , and lets potential buyers know up front, but most are trying to deceive and I don't think that's ok.
