FS: 1972 Cutlass Supreme V Code 455/M20

I'm thinning out my collection and I’m considering selling my 1972 Cutlass Supreme hardtop. It’s 1 of 77 V Code Supremes built (455/M20). I’ve owned three of those 77 and have owned this car from 2002-2004 and 2006 to now.

Runs and drives strong and needs front bumper alignment and some fiddling with the lights (mostly bulbs) to be road ready. Its original “born-with” block and intake come with it. Prior owner was always messing with it as a weekend drag car, and I've been bringing it back towards factory correctness. It has a strong 1971 Toronado 455 w/ G heads and O4B intake in it now. Professionally rebuilt/restored correct QJet and M20 transmission. Recent engine detailing and ‘sorting’ out by Steve Minore.

Originally code 63 Saddle Bronze with a white vinyl top, but currently PPG Sapphire Black (dark blue) with a Dark Saddle bucket/console interior and Rallye Pack gauges, SSIIs, sport steering wheel and mirrors, newer dual exhaust with Flowmasters, 3:23 posi rear built by Brian Trick. Very solid car with nice floors/braces/trunk floor but will need some body work around rear wheel lips, the trans tunnel that was enlarged for a 5 speed years ago, and lower fenders. Door structures are excellent but drivers side needs a couple spots repaired. Has an excellent decklid that was removed and stored indoors for decades. Car is always inside so the body issues have not changed a bit in the past decade. (I have two beautiful New Mexico doors and nice Ga heads available at extra cost to the buyer.)

There are at least $2500 in new parts from Fusick and elsewhere on the car now – new boxed control arms, coil springs, all new front and rear brake system from the booster to the discs and drums, correct dual snorkel air cleaner, Thornton notched valve covers, new harnesses/cables/hoses, rebuilt original shifter with reverse lockout and rechromed handle, a great New Mexico core support, lots and lots more that I have in a spreadsheet. I know I’m forgetting a lot. Just want to throw this out there and see if anyone would be interested if I decide to let it go. I have photos of the broadcast card that I pulled from the passenger bucket in 2003, but the interim owner lost it.

I’m thinking ~$13,500 based on rarity, generally solid running condition and factory options, and lots of new parts. It's the ultimate performance Supreme. Many pics coming soon. Located near Pittsburgh, PA. If I don't sell this one, I'll probably offer up my rust free, nicely optioned Viking Blue '72 Supreme in the spring.

Bump. I love owning this car, but I'm still interested in giving it a good new home to simplify my situation a little bit...

I know I am an Oldsmobile guy but crazy this hasn't sold yet. How is a '72 with a 455 and manual not worth at least twice this?

Springtime bump. I was looking at selling my Viking Blue '72 Supreme recently to go towards paint and body on this one, but based on the feedback I was getting on the blue car, I think I may be considering selling the wrong one... If anyone is interested in my beautiful '96 LT4 Corvette, I'll keep both of my Supremes! ; )

Terry,
Wow, I didn't realize you still had it. This is a great car at a great price and runs and drives beautifully. If I had the room I would take it off your hands, but with Dad's '67 I don't have room for 2 summer only rides. Anyway I hope all is well and you are planning on going to the OCA Nationals this year with some if not all of your collection.

455 4spd

Terry,
I like it. I recently sold my Corvette and wanted to go back to the Olds as I've owned 3 over the last 25 years and do miss them. Interesting combo 455 4speed. Possible to speak on the phone in the coming days ahead......

Respectfully,
Deane
